BNP Paribas awarded ‘Equity Derivatives House of the Year' by Risk magazine

London – BNP Paribas is delighted to announce that it has been named ‘Equity Derivatives House of the Year' in Risk magazine's 2007 awards, which recognise innovation and excellence in derivatives and risk management. BNP Paribas has long been established as one of the clear leaders in equity derivatives, and this is the second time that the bank has won this prestigious award, having previously won it in 2004.

BNP Paribas was recognised by Risk magazine for having significantly strengthened its overall market position over the past year, particularly in further building up its robust flow platform. In 2006, BNP Paribas boosted its presence in the US and added resources to its corporate, fund-linked and structured products offerings. As well as recruiting over 200 people to its Equities & Derivatives (EQD) business, the bank has continued to make strides in developing the most innovative solutions for clients.

Commenting on this notable success, Yann Gerardin, Global Head of EQD at BNP Paribas said: “This award reflects an excellent 2006 for the business, as our innovative capabilities and the growth of our client activity have clearly distinguished us from our competitors. We have ambitious growth targets for the coming year and are confident that our platform will cross new frontiers, in terms of modelling and risk management.”

Jacques d'Estais, Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at BNP Paribas added: ‘Derivatives are an integral part of BNP Paribas' culture and a key area of growth for the bank. We are thrilled to accept this award, which reinforces the strength of our equity derivatives franchise and the bank's ongoing commitment to our clients.”
