BNP Paribas today announced it has hired Kelly Gromoll as Head of European High Yield Sales and Research Strategy. Based in London, she will be part of BNP Paribas' High Yield Group which is headed globally by Kathryn Swintek.
Gromoll, 35, joins BNP Paribas from Bear Stearns where she had been an Associate Director in the High Yield Sales department in London since October 1999. Prior to joining Bear Stearns, she worked for over four years as a Vice President with HSBC in New York in the Global High Yield group selling to US and European accounts. She started in the derivatives business in 1987 spending seven years working for European financial institutions in the US. She graduated from State University of New York in 1985 with a BA in International Studies and in 1987 with an MA in Economics and International Trade.
Commenting on this appointment, Kathryn Swintek said, "This important addition, together with the US sales team under the leadership of David Atkinson in New York, positions BNP Paribas to lead in cross border trading and distribution within global high yield. The dual responsibility for leading our sales effort and our research strategy further assures client input into development of important products in the evolving European market where BNP Paribas intends to be a leader."
David Ovenden, Global Head of Credit, added, "Kelly brings a strong track record in sales execution across a broad spectrum of non-investment grade fixed income products. We believe that breadth of experience and a strong technical skill set is key to serving our clients with product solutions in the growing European high yield market."
