BNP Paribas appoints Giuseppe Spadafora as Head of BNP Paribas Italy and Robert Ricci as Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Suisse SA

BNP Paribas is pleased to announce the appointment of Giuseppe Spadafora as Head of BNP Paribas Italy. He replaces Robert Ricci who will be Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Suisse SA as of September 15th, 2002.

Giuseppe Spadafora, 47, started his career in 1983 at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in 1983 as a credit analyst in Milan. He later moved to New York, in charge of Italian clients in the US. In 1985, he returned to Italy as Managing Director of Manufacturers Hanover Finanziaria SpA. He joined Chemical Bank in 1988, as Managing Director and Senior Financial Officer. In 1996, he joined Omnitel Pronto Italia as Vice President of Finance. In 1998, he became General Manager of Banco di Sicilia. Giuseppe joined BNP Paribas in 2000 as Head of Corporate Finance for Italy and Senior Banker for some Italian clients. He will remain head of Corporate Finance for Italy.
Giuseppe Spadafora graduated from the London School of Economics (Master of Science in Economics) and attended a specialized course at the Harvard University (Graduate Program in Economics).

Robert Ricci, 56, started his career at Paribas in 1971 in the Treasury department. In 1986, he joined the Banking department and in 1989, moved to Italy where he took charge of market activities. In 1992, he was appointed General Manager of Paribas in Italy. Following the merger, Robert was appointed General Manager and Legal Representative of the BNP Paribas Group in Italy. He is also Senior Banker in charge of Fiat, Enel and Montedison.
Robert Ricci has a P.H.D. in Laws and a Degree in Political Science (Aix-en-provence University).
