BNP Paribas today announces the appointment of Frédéric Amoudru as its Country Manager for Poland. Following the integration with Fortis and given the importance of retail operations in the country, Poland is now a Retail Banking country for BNP Paribas. The group intends to create a universal bank there as a driver for growth.
In his new capacity, Frédéric Amoudru will be responsible for coordinating and developing the
BNP Paribas group's operations in Poland, particularly those of Fortis Bank Polska, which is 99.9%-owned by Fortis Bank. With 259 branches, almost 400,000 customers, 2,500 employees and a significant share of the market, Fortis Bank Polska is the BNP Paribas group's flagship in Poland and its development will be a priority.
Frédéric Amoudru (aged 49) is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris (1982) and the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises, Sorbonne (1983). He can draw on wide-ranging experience within the group, which he joined in May 1987. He began his career with the group at Crédit du Nord in Paris, working as Area Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa and India. In 1989 he was assigned to London for three years as head of the European Desk, a position he subsequently held in Singapore in 1992, representing both Crédit du Nord and Paribas. In June 1995 he was named head of the Multinationals and Structured Finance Desk at Paribas Singapore. In June 1997 he became head of Paribas Singapore's Asset Restructuring and Recovery Group, holding this position after the merger with BNP Paribas in 2000. In May 2003 he was appointed Head of Territory for India, where he remained until this new appointment in Poland.
