The fifth annual session of the ‘Cash Management University', organised by BNP Paribas, attracted over 300 participants from all over the world, who together focused for two days on the subject of Cash and Liquidity Management as a performance lever for businesses.
This annual event has now established itself as a must for all those involved in the world of Cash Management. The ‘University' provides an opportunity for Treasurers and Finance Directors from all over the globe to exchange ideas and experiences, to get a feel for market trends and to reflect about upcoming changes.
BNP Paribas Cash Management, alongside other Group Business Lines, brought together the major players in Cash Management, including representatives of Equity, Fiserv, IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, SAP, SunGard and SWIFT. Several clients, such as Lafarge Inde, Spie Oil & Gas Services, and Merck KGaA, also agreed to give their perspective on the issues at plenary sessions or workshops during the two days.
The discussions highlighted the key role of the Treasurer and Cash Management professional at a time when confidence and liquidity have become vital factors for all types of businesses. The current economic climate and the changing regulatory environment mean that both banks and businesses have to adapt and companies need to be sure that their bank is going to support them in carrying out their projects on a long-term basis. Consequently, to meet clients' needs, banks will have to really integrate Cash Management solutions into their global banks-corporates relationship. Moreover, companies are looking for Cash Management solutions which cover their needs on a worldwide basis, but at the same time also wish to enjoy locally-tailored support for their Treasury department.
Pierre Fersztand, Global Head of Cash Management at BNP Paribas, underlined: “These two days provide the opportunity for BNP Paribas Cash Management to highlight our commitment and our determination to support our clients with Treasury and Liquidity Management services on a long-term basis. Our wide geographical cover and expertise enable us to offer global solutions while also providing support tailored to local needs.”
