Partner in all the aspects of Tennis, BNL – Gruppo BNP Paribas, decided to contribute to valorize the World Wheelchair Tennis Championship that is held in Cremona, Italy, from the 9th to the 15th of June at the rowing clubs Circolo Canottieri Baldesio and Circolo Canottieri Leonida Bissolati.
Furthermore, during the tournament there will be a “BNL for Telethon” desk within the clubs where it will be possible to make donations to support research into genetically-transmitted diseases.
Through this partnership the Bank intends to consolidate its historic committment to the “professionnal tennis” and to the “Heart Tennis”, by investing in a dual enterprise that will strongly back the values of competition, cooperation and solidarity and support the diffusion of sport at all levels as an important instrument with which to promote social bonding and valorization.
Since 2007, BNL has been the title sponsor of the ‘Internazionali BNL d'Italia' in Rome from the 3rd to the 18th of May; this is a project to develop the tournament which was established so as to turn it into one of the most important events in the world after the Grand Slam. A five-year partnership that can count on the vast experience that BNP Paribas has in the world of tennis.
And in fact, after joining the BNP Paribas Group, BNL became the Italian Tennis Bank, fostering initiatives throughout the country: it sponsored the Italian Tennis Masters in Wheelchair, which involved the sixteen top Italian wheel-chair tennis players; eight of the major Roman clubs challenged each other in the BNL Revolution Cup Tournament, with Under 16s and Over 40s in the 4th-category male and female teams competing on red clay courts; the 19th edition of the BNL International Tournament for Under 14s – BNP Paribas Group of Leghorn, an event which saw the participation of young athletes from several European countries who are the white hopes of future international tennis.
This year, BNL also combined tennis and an important project for solidarity ; together with the Italian Tennis Federation it organized ‘Telethon del tennis 2007.' More than 100 sports clubs joined in order to raise money to support scientific research into genetically-transmitted diseases. Starting in 2007, BNL awards promising young Italian tennis players the Oscar BNL del Tennis, assigned by a BNL-ITF jury to the two best juniors in Italy. BNL, like BNP Paribas, will continue to support tennis in its various expressions; international, local, pedagogical, family and social, so as to contribute to a sports discipline that is in continual expansion,an important instrument for fostering bonding and social valorization.
