Gilles Roman, 47, has been appointed Global Head of Risk for BNP Paribas. He succeeds Edouard Sautter who has been in the position since 1994 and is retiring at 63, having implemented the merger between the Risk Departments of BNP and Paribas at Michel Pébereau's request.

Gilles Roman has been Global Head of Risk for Paribas since 1997, acting as deputy head to Edouard Sautter during the merger. He was previously based in Los Angeles and Toronto before taking responsibility for Corporate Banking activities in Europe.


Jacques d'Estais, 40,has been appointed Global Head of Fixed Income for BNP Paribas, succeeding Michel Péretié who is leaving the Group. Based in London, he also becomes a member of the Executive Committee of the Corporate and Investment Banking division.

Jacques d'Estais joined Paribas in 1983. In 1990 he was appointed Global Head of Equity Derivatives, based in London and in 1995 he took on new responsibilities in Tokyo. In April 1998 he became Chief Operating Officer of Fixed Income in London until recently when he was made Global Head of Credit for the BNP Paribas Fixed Income business line.


Previously General Secretary of Paribas, Pierre-Edouard Noyelle, 52,has been appointed Global Head of Structuring of business operations for the Private Banking and Asset Management division and will sit on the Executive Committee of the division.
