Ace Manager 5: the “Altruists” team wins the fifth edition of BNP Paribas' online business competition

For the fifth consecutive year, BNP Paribas ran Ace Manager, its online business competition. Designed to enhance brand awareness at universities and colleges worldwide, this international game is open to all students in higher education, who are working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree and are under 26. This year, Ace Manager–The Fifth Set attracted nearly 19,000 participants from 136 countries.

On 14 May the “Altruists” team from India won the Grand Final of Ace Manager–The Fifth Set, the fifth edition of the BNP Paribas online business game.

The final brought together the best 5 teams from the first round which took place from 2-23 April. At the final, the best 5 teams, each made up of 3 students, faced a last challenge with an opportunity to impress the jury comprised of managers and staff from the BNP Paribas Group. There were two phases in the final. In the morning, players worked on a financial case study linked to the Group's three main activities (Retail Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking and Investment Solutions. In the afternoon, they were asked to work on the following case: “You arrive on a continent where there are no banks. What would you need to invent to meet consumer and business financing needs?”

The final ranking was as follows:

1. Altruists (Mumbai, India) from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML)
2. Venturance (Moscow) from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation
3. Wall Street Titans (Singapore) from the National University of Singapore
4. Elixir (Mumbai, India) from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS)
5. Fin_gurus (Mumbai, India) from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies & Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML)


All the finalist teams were rewarded. The top three teams received €6,000, €3,000 and €1,500 respectively. In addition, the first team won a trip to Paris and tickets to watch a quarter final match at Roland-Garros, the French Open tennis tournament. All the finalists received tickets for an upcoming Davis Cup by BNP Paribas tennis event.

Ace Manager-The Fifth Set was designed with the help of “on-the-ground” banking experts from BNP Paribas, with a view to increasing employer appeal among young people. BNP Paribas aims to become one of the most attractive employers for students worldwide.
