The JuST Institute: a key new player in protecting vulnerable populations
Officially launched a few days ago at COP27, the Just Sustainability Transitions Institute ("JuST Institute") has one major objective: to coordinate the actions of transition financiers and provide them with dedicated tools in order to increase the amount and quality of sustainable financing specifically benefiting the populations most vulnerable to climate change and biodiversity degradation (small rural farmers and rural communities, etc.). To achieve this, it intends to bring together, throughout the world, public and private financial institutions and major companies, such as BNP Paribas and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which joined it right from its creation. Alexandre Nayme, BNP Paribas Investment Officer within the Financial Inclusion team at the Group's Company Engagement Department, and Davide Forcella, Director of the JuST Institute, explain the JuST Institute's scope and ambition in just two minutes.
