"What has happened to the common good?" That's the question that Nobel Prize winners, international leaders, CEOs and researchers from major universities addressed on May 27th & 28th during the Common Good Summit organized by French magazine Challenges and the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE).

Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, CEO of BNP Paribas, participated in a round table organised on Friday, the 28th May, and which covered the theme: "How profitable is capital for the common good?" The round table was led by Pierre-Henri de Menthon, and joining Mr. Bonnafé were Cather Catherine Casamatta (UT1-TSE-TSM , Saam Golshani (White & Case) and Philipp Hildebrand (Blackrock).

Throughout the round table, the participants spent time in particular on the question of responsible investments and their profitability as well as the pace of the ecological transition and how necessary it is to accelerate sustainable finance operations.

"Today, banks are looking at their portfolios and considering how each company will need to proceed with a transition in order to ensure their future. An in order to proceed with that transition, one will need to see how much investment is necessary."
