BNP Paribas and its employees mobilise to support the people of Ukraine

Published On 01.03.2022

The aggression against Ukraine calls for solidarity among all Europeans and within the international community. In partnership with EBRD, BNP Paribas operates in this country through Ukrsibbank, which includes close to 5,000 employees and banking locations across the Ukrainian territory.

Activating the Rescue & Recover Fund

First and foremost, the Group has done everything within its power to provide for the security of its employees. Support and housing is being offered to employees and their families leaving the cities and regions that are the most affected by the attacks, notably through contributions by BNP Paribas Poland and through the solidarity being shown by their colleagues there.

Psychological support was also made immediately available to our Ukrainian colleagues and a network of HR correspondents throughout the Group’s territories have mobilised to support individual situations and respond to questions. Ukrsibbank is working to maintain its activities, as much as is possible, in order to serve the people of Ukraine and its economy.

The large number of people fleeing Ukraine has already created a major humanitarian crisis. The BNP Paribas Group has therefore made commitments to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and to its partner organisations, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and the Red Cross, that we will make direct financial contributions going to help the needs expressed by these organisations.

The Rescue & Recover Fund was created so that BNP Paribas employees and clients may show their support in the event of a humanitarian catastrophe by doubling each donation made and is now open to the benefit of the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.

As of today, €10 million has been pledged. This amount may be increased according to the needs expressed by our partners as well BNP Paribas’ contributions matching donations through our Rescue & Recover Fund.

BNP Paribas and its employees will remain mobilised alongside all those who are working toward peace and human dignity in Europe.
