The General Management and the Executive Committee

The General Management of BNP Paribas is composed of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) plus two Chief Operating Officers (COO) and two Deputy Chief Operating Officers.

As Chief Executive Officer, Jean-Laurent Bonnafé bears responsibility for the management of the Group and, for this purpose, is invested with extensive powers. Accordingly, all operational activities and Group functions fall under his direct responsibility.

The Executive Committee brings together the General Management as well as 14 other members - Heads of businesses and central functions. They meet at least once a week.

Head of Commercial & Personal Banking in France

Career

Marguerite Bérard is head of France networks and has been a member of the BNP Paribas executive committee since January 2019. France networks covers corporate banking, private banking and retail banking operations in France. In 2022 there were 22,000 people in these activities serving 7 million individual clients, 707,000 professional clients and very small businesses, 31,200 companies (small and medium-sized businesses, large corporations) and more than 58,000 non-profit organisations. Net banking income amounted to over 6.6 billion euros.

Marguerite Bérard previously served as a member of the management board and as managing director of BPCE Group from 2016 onwards in charge of finance, strategy, legal affairs and secretariat of the board of directors. Marguerite had joined the mutual banking group in June 2012 to head up strategy within the general management committee.

Marguerite Bérard’s career was previously in the public sector. Marguerite graduated from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration in 2004, becoming a finance inspector and then serving as technical advisor and then advisor on labour issues to the office of the President of the French Republic between May 2007 and the end of 2010. In 2011 and 2012 Marguerite Bérard was chief of staff for Xavier Bertrand, minister for labour, employment and health.

Education

Marguerite Bérard is a graduate of the Paris Institut d’Etudes Politiques and holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Princeton.

Marguerite Bérard is a member of the Institut Montaigne executive board and authored Le Siècle d’Assia (published by Flammarion in 2019).
