Business area
The mission of UK Stakeholder relations perimeter is to showcase, coordinate and enhance our UK and Group commitments to our stakeholders particularly across Strategy, Communications (media relations, internal communications and events activity (e.g. sponsorships and corporate memberships)), Sustainability, Community Engagement, D&I and Culture in order to effectively steer the engagement to best support our continuous growth in the UK.
The UK Communications team is responsible for ensuring that the BNP Paribas brand is protected and promoted in the UK. The team manages all media relationships for the bank in the UK as well as all internal communications for UK Territory Management, Global Banking and UK Functions.
Its core functions are media relations, internal communications, sponsorship and partnership management, events, content creation for Group and CIB outlets across EMEA and communications coordination.
The department also provides a broad range of communications support to the Global Markets and liaises with Group Communications and CIB Company Engagement to ensure that all messaging is supportive of Group aims.
Job Purpose
The job purpose is principally to support the promotion of the Markets 360 Strategy and Economics division through the creation and delivery of a media strategy across both broadcast and traditional media, and be prepared to support across the Media team as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
Media relations:
- Create and deliver a media relations plan designed to promote our spokespeople and economic research to a C suite audience
- Build strong contacts, particularly with broadcast media, in order to develop Markets 360 profile on TV and share all coverage in a timely fashion
- Create a diary of upcoming relevant announcements – both internal and external
- Ensure high business & ethical standards in implementation of media campaigns
- Share strategic initiatives with peers from the platforms and capitalise on best practises
- Strong collaboration with rest of media team
Business Planning, Management & Strategy:
- Play a part in defining and developing the Stakeholder Relations strategy, look to continually strengthen our offering, increasing our client impact and enhancing our reputation.
- Align communications strategy to business priorities whilst taking into consideration at all times the Bank’s 4 key pillars and mutualise where possible, aligning with a “One Bank” approach.
- Strategically monitor key trends in media relations to stay at the highest quality levels in terms of ideas and delivery
Coordination with other teams / business areas
- Ensure strong relationships with media and wider communications functions across the Group.
- Ensure a strongly positive network of relationships with key stakeholders internally.
- Look to systematically gain market intelligence from outside BNP Paribas.
- Follow BNP Paribas policies & procedures
Communications Management :
- Develop media relations strategy for Markets 360 in conjunction with Team Head and media team.
Other Contributions:
- Support amplification of Group and UK-wide messaging through judicious use of UK CIB LinkedIn account and that of Head of UK Territory, as well as UK website, with necessary approvals
- Look to collaborate with other UK, European teams or across the regions incl US and Asia
- Very systematic in gaining market intelligence from beyond the BNPP walls to leverage
- Challenging to business to focus on value added events, while considering significant cost restraints
- Openly share tools and procedures with other BNP Paribas events professionals
- Build strong working relationships with internal clients
- Raise the profile of the team within the business line and across BNP Paribas as a whole.
- Promote greater cross business line / metiers/ regional collaboration on media relations.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience in strategic communications planning and running campaigns
- Excellent understanding of corporate branding and audience engagement
- Knowledge of media relations best practice and tools
- Experience working with journalists and broadcast
- Experience in communications management in the banking and/or investment sector, preferably in a leading financial institution.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with strong personalities and at C-suite level
- Fluent English skills, both written and spoken
