BNP Paribas’ Global Markets business offers a broad range of products and services in the global interest rates, credit, currency, equities, and commodity markets. Global Markets help their franchise of clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Their client base comprises of hundreds of corporations, institutional investors, banks, governments, and supranational organisations.
Global Markets has the scale and reach to conduct business anywhere in the world and deliver products denominated in almost all of the world’s currencies.
Global Equities encompasses Equity Derivatives, Prime Services and Cash Equities. BNP Paribas’ Equity Derivatives unit is an industry leading provider of expert derivative-based solutions, innovative products, and market liquidity to a diverse range of clients across the institutional, private banks, and distribution and corporate sectors. Combined with the market leading Prime Services and Cash Equities platforms, clients have access to a full-scale equities offering.
The Convertibles Bonds trading desk is a leading market maker providing liquidity in European and Asian secondary convertible bond markets. The desk also plays a key role is supporting the banks primary issuance capabilities.
Job Purpose
The role is to assist senior team members in the day-to-day business activities and contribute to a variety of tasks allowing a general introduction to the business.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the Convertible Bond Trading team, the successful applicant will be involved in the following as a trader assistant:
• Support the trading team in their day-to-day work (pricing of CBs, Options, and credit products),
• Support the sales team based in London, Paris, and Hong-Kong,
• Help the trading desk by being in relation with the Back Office and Middle Office functions,
• Interact with the other EQD Flow trading desks to help on transversal projects and reports,
• Assist the team in managing multiple projects and ensure their proper progress,
• Prepare internal reports, memos, and data analysis,
• Monitor risks and transactions,
• Code in Python and VBA to automate processes,
• Interact with IT teams to develop new trading tools.
Requirements
• Excellent academic record from a leading university, with a strong preference for a degree in a quantitative subject,
• Ideally having prior banking experience, especially in Equity Derivatives,
• Strong interest and excellent understanding of the financial markets,
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills,
• Proficient with MS Office Tools, particularly Excel,
• Good programming skills in Python and VBA,
• Good project management, time management, and multitasking skills,
• Meticulous accuracy with a keen eye for detail,
• Fluent in English, with confident verbal, written, and networking skills,
• Speaking French would be a plus,
• Be a role model, supporting and fostering a culture of good conduct,
• Demonstrate proactivity, transparency, and accountability for identifying and managing conduct risks.
