ROLE DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

Product Development APAC is leading the product lifecycle management of products (local and/or offshore domiciled funds) offered across the APAC region. This involves coordinating the validation process of new product initiatives, as well as the corresponding implementation and ongoing maintenance. Being at the heart of product lifecycle, the team works with a quick time to market and client oriented mind-set.

On top of that, the team is also responsible for enforcing regional product governance.  This involves having oversight on regional product initiatives from idea incubation to validation, defining product strategies in collaboration of local key stakeholders and ensuring global process being adopted in the region.

Within the team, the Product Development Officer will:

  • Contribute to the product lifecycle management including product development, revamping and management
  • Assist in organizing regional product committee to validate new product initiatives
  • Participating in stakeholder meetings with Product Development team
  • Assist Head of Product Development APAC in any domain within his scope of responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product Development & Management
    • Support different product development initiatives, such as new fund launches, product rationalization and restructuring of existing funds
    • Lead managing requests in share class creation and fund registration
    • Assist in regular review on dividend payout as well as help defining the appropriate dividend policy
  • Product Governance
    • Coordinate the product approval and governance process by:
      • Work together with key stakeholders to ensure necessary information coverage to facilitate business decision making
      • Organize product committees by maintaining agenda and minutes
    • Organize regular exchange with local stakeholders to define local product strategy and keep abreast of market evolution
    • Assess product potential from a business development standpoint:
      • Analyze features of the competing local and global products, and market trends
      • Collect and analyses information about sales potential (NNC and revenues / type of clients)
  • Management Support
    • Produce ad-hoc or regular reporting, analysis, presentation for APAC & global management committees

KEY INTERNAL / EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS 

Internal: 

  • Central functions located in Europe such as Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, Product Strategy and Product Engineering
  • Local functions such as Sales, Marketing, Investment Specialist, Portfolio Managers, Legal, Compliance, Risk and Operation

External: 

  • Regulatory authorities, industry assocations, custodian, fund administrators, auditors and tax advisors  

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Graduation with a good academic record from university or business school
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in asset management company or financial institution, preferrably in product development
  • Sound knowledge of asset management products (alternative investment, structured solution a plus) and markets (e.g. China, Japan)
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Team player, self-directed with ability to escalate if necessary
