Position Purpose

The IT department supports all business areas through the cost-effective identification, prioritization, design, development and implementation of technology-based change, promoting standard architectures and services.  It also provides reactive business and technology support services, adapted to the on-going change process.

The IT team is responsible for the technical direction of a wide range of applications used across many business areas, the management of all development work for those applications according to agreed scope, budget and schedules, working with stakeholders in the business to identify and deliver solutions ensuring optimal use of the applications, and to help facilitate change management within the business as required.

The applications managed by the team include vendor-based products that interface with many of our internal systems, in-house locally developed applications using strategic technology, global applications developed or implemented by overseas BNP Paribas offices, and small-to-medium scale applications built using Excel or Visual Basic.

There are several global applications for which this team is either responsible for the relationship with the development teams in Paris including the development of interfaces to local systems, or for which the team provides technical resources to the local IT teams.  Many of the applications managed by IT are also used across several business areas, providing a standard technology solution.

The team is made up of Application and Project Managers, Business and Systems analysts and Developers.  Key technologies used within the team are BizTalk server, .NET (ASP, C#), SQL Server, SSIS, Visual Basic and Excel VBA.

The IT team work closely with internal stakeholders including business stakeholders and other teams within IT (Service Delivery, Solutions Architecture team, Technical Architecture team, Environment Management team, Project Management Office).  Communication with external stakeholders is equally important and may include BNP Paribas Territory IT who manages networks and infrastructure, Paris, London and Singapore branches for global projects and standards, vendors, consultants, suppliers and occasionally BNPP Securities Services clients.


This role is responsible for the development and enhancement of Data Warehouse and Reporting applications and interfaces owned by the department.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Deliver smart, appropriate solutions that meet or exceed business expectations
  • Deliver assigned activities and tasks to budget and schedule, and to agreed criteria for success
  • Ensure that the project methodology is applied in all tasks undertaken
  • Provide regular and timely updates to management regarding status of work activities
  • Identify and raise to management any risks or issues, and contribute to the development of plans to either avoid or overcome these risks and issues
  • Develop and contribute to the development of the team’s skills and capabilities
  • Enthusiastically participate in the development and improvement of in-the department’s Excel standards and methodologies
  • Adherence to security and other global and local standards

Understand requirements and design solutions

  • Work directly with business analysts and/or the business end-users to ensure that requirements are understood
  • Work with technical peers to identify and design appropriate and effective solutions to meet requirements
  • Where applicable, document designs and solutions for changes required using the appropriate document repository (depending on the complexity of the application)
  • Work with business analysts, developers and project managers to provide realistic and accurate estimates for tasks and projects
  • Ensure that operational monitoring, housekeeping/maintenance and DR solutions are considered as part of all changes

Coding and testing of solutions

  • Coding of required changes, respecting development standards and the project methodology
  • Conducting and participating in peer code reviews
  • Thorough system, unit and integration testing
  • Support User Acceptance Testing

Deployment and handover

  • Ensure that solutions designed and delivered can be operated and maintained
  • Prepare solutions for deployment and document the deployment and change process
  • Make sure that all UAT and production deployments are correctly stored in the source code repository
  • Work with the Environment management team to ensure that solutions are deployed to test environments for systems testing and UAT
  • Ensure that appropriate signoffs have been obtained prior to applying to have the solution approved for promotion to Production as well as adherence to defined promote procedures
  • Ensure that solutions are handed over effectively to the support teams (Service Delivery)

Specific Qualifications (if required)


  • Strong understanding of MS SQL Server 2000 –2017 database design and development (including Stored Procs, Functions Triggers etc.)
  • Experience with DTS and SSIS.
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Experience with SSRS
  • Experience in Database Migration
  • Knowledge in SQL server replication
  • Exposure to C#, ASP.NET, XML, XSLT, .NET Framework and Web development
  • Exposure to database unit testing with tSQLt framework
  • Hands-on experience in documenting Analysis and Design documents


  • Knowledge of BIZ talk, SWIFT, , Web services and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Exposure to SWIFT, HiPortfolio and/or pControl
  • Exposure Team Foundation Server (TFS)
