Senior Credit Portfolio Manager H/F

You will join BNP Paribas Global Banking, within the Securitised Products Group (SPG) of Global Capital Markets, a division of CIB Global Banking. 

SPG includes several business areas, including the Securitised Products Group. Within SPG, the Private Debt Financing (PDF) activity covers the financing of private debt funds. This involves providing medium-term credit facilities secured by loan portfolios granted by those funds.

The Private Debt Financing team has two main functions:

  • Origination & Structuring (O&S), which covers the origination, structuring, and execution of these credit facilities
  • Credit Management (CM), which covers mainly the credit monitoring of these facilities

In addition, PDF benefits from the support of Securitisation Portfolio Management (SPM) within SPG, which covers the management of resources (capital, liquidity) and the supervision of operational aspects (middle and back office).

You will have multiple responsibilities:

This is a job offer to manage the Credit Management function within the Private Debt Financing (PDF) team, to monitor the operation and credit risk of PDF's credit facilities. The job involves a management responsibility, with junior colleagues in London and/or Lisbon. 

The main responsibilities comprise:

  • To assist the Origination & Structuring (O&S) team in setting up facilities and participating in Due Diligences
  • To review and analyse the reporting produced by clients on the facilities, including financial models and financial information on underlying obligors
  • To manage the quarterly portfolio review and annual transaction reviews
  • To detect assets in difficulty within the portfolio and determine appropriate valuations
  • To handle clients’ requests for waivers and amendments 
  • To control and monitor the KPIs on the activity produced by internal functions and SPM
  • Working closely with SPM, oversee the execution of transactions by the Operations team and ensure effective incident management

The key objectives:

  • Ensuring that the Credit Management team achieves a reliable delivery of the functions and tasks above for PDF,
  • Over time increasing the efficiency and reliability of the Credit Management function, by continuous improvements, optimizing the organization and developing new resources including people, systems, improved processes and outsourcing initiatives.

The position involves:

  • frequent interactions with clients, in close cooperation with O&S. The quality of these interactions is key to the relationship between PDF and its clients. 
  • resolving complex issues with autonomy and judgment.
  • managing a multi-location international team.

And then?

This position will provide you with in-depth knowledge of portfolio management of securitization transactions, as well as management experience in a growing environment. 

It could allow you to evolve towards other roles within SPG or Global Capital Markets.

Do you have the right profile?

Yes, if you have a minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience with significant prior experience in portfolio management acquired within BNP Paribas or another leading bank or asset manager. Experience in management will be appreciated. 

You have an experience in interacting with clients and internally with risk department teams.

You have specific credit analysis skills: analysis of corporates’ financial data, ability to quickly assess the credit quality of companies in various sectors.

In addition, you have strong analytical and attention to detail skills, and the ability to synthesize information quickly to propose effective solutions, an ability to effectively manage a team remotely and demonstrate leadership within an evolving and growing business.

Also, have computer skills and good knowledge of standard software, Microsoft Office, particularly developed skills in Excel. Preferred experience with external software (e.g. Dealogic, Bloomberg, Intex).

You preferably understand the key operating principles within a banking organization.

Finally, your interpersonal skills have already enabled you to develop a strong network within CIB and/or BNP Paribas and you speak English fluently.
