The position at a glance
Part of ITO Production Organization under Production Enablement domain, the Technical Office & Expertise area is responsible for developing and providing services to enable the standardization, digitalization, and automation of our platforms with a global remit.
In detail
The Production Expert will be part of a multi-disciplined team, providing support to the production elements providing cloud services to IV2 applications. The role is centred on application support, and requires a wide range of technical skills. The Production Expert will work closely with development and infrastructure teams to:
- Pro-actively monitor, manage and improve availability and performance of the production environments (from presentation and application layers to Infrastructure layers)
- Pro-actively manage the capacity of production applications
- Plan and implement application releases, load tests and configuration changes
- Customize production tools (monitoring, deployment, scheduling etc.)
- Contribute to medium and high scale technical projects as part of the by contributing in architecture review and design, upgrading and migrating application systems to new platforms.
- Provide feedback and propose solutions to management on performance, capacity and design issues
- Administration of cloud technologies – Ansible Tower , Api platform ( Apigee), Marketplace, Robotics … ;
- Design solutions for application using Cloud technologies;
- Create continuous integration and deployment pipelines (Jenkins, Ansible playbooks );
- Able to provide support and technical guidance to application development and support teams ;
- Script to build required automation and tools on an ad-hoc basis using Unix scripting and Terraform/Ansible ;
- Provide Production Support for Microservice and Cloud technologies locally and globally (Follow the Sun support)
- Contribute to secure the CIB environment, control and reduce obsolescence ;
The Production Expert will also work with other teams to respond to incidents and resolve issues promptly, often under pressure, to restore normal services to the business. Therefore, ability to be on call and provide support out of hours is essential.
As this is a production support role, focusing across a range of different and mostly cutting edge technologies, candidates must possess the aptitude and desire to learn.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in computer/IT/Software engineering required; advanced degree considered a plus.
- Minimum 8 years experience In complex IT infrastructure enrivonments
- Good knowledge of Apigee Google product and APIs in general (REST, XML/JSON, SOAP .. ) .
- DevOps experience working in Unix platform using APIs, Ansible and Terraform
- Script to build required automation and tools on an ad-hoc basis using tools such Unix scripting, Python and Ansible
- High comfort level and knowledge of Linux
- Good General understanding of global infrastructure, firewalls and networking;
- Kubernetes Cluster – Experience in administering and managing Kubernetes and related container technologies
- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English is required.
