- The RISK Leasing Solutions - Operational Risk Officer’s mission is to contribute to the implementation of all the components of Operational Risk and Permanent Control Framework in BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) activities, providing supervision over the 1st Line of Defence in terms of Operational Risk
- RISK Operational Risk Management (RISK ORM) CIB acts as the 2nd Line of Defence of BNP Paribas CIB. It belongs to the Risk Function (RISK) of BNP Paribas and is placed under the responsibility of the Head of RISK ORM CIB, who reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of CIB. The department is responsible for independently challenging and supervising the Operational Risk management of CIB activities (Global Banking, Global Markets, Securities Services, Information Technology IT, Operations and Functions) on a worldwide scope
- The scope covered applies to all the operational risks to which Leasing Solutions is exposed, for which RISK acts as a 2nd Line of Defence
Your Main Activities Are
- Under the authority of the Global Head of Operational Risk Officers (OROs) of Leasing Solutions, to contribute to the deployment of the operational risk management framework of Leasing Solutions
- Contribute to drive the change by participating in the implementation of major transformation programs, in particular when these are linked to a recommendation from the Supervisor or to compliance with a regulatory provision (for example, Control Monitoring Program, Third Party Risk Management, Operational Resilience, Cyberfraud Program, Cyberprogram, Data Leakage Protection Program)
- Ensure that operational risk regulations, norms, guidelines, and methodologies are understood and implemented over time within Leasing Solutions (for example, Risk and Control Self -Assessment [RCSA] and Incident check and challenge)
- Perform second line controls
- Carry out independent analysis
- Entrench the use of Group operational risk management tools (for example, 360 RiskOp) and related reporting
- Implement the decisions taken in terms of operational risks by the Global Head of OROs of Leasing Solutions, the CRO of Leasing Solutions, the Head of OROs of Comercial, Personal Banking and Services (CPBS), or the head of the RISK ORM Network
- Ensure feedback and transmission of information is adapted to stakes
- Participate to the crisis management following an operational incident
- To contribute, in the framework of the associated Governance (for example, internal control committee of Leasing Solutions in the presence of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Leasing Solutions, quarterly monitoring committee in the presence of the CRO of the Pole to which Leasing Solutions belongs), to build to the attention of the CRO of Leasing Solutions, the CEO of Leasing Solutions, the Head of OROs of CPBS or the Head of the RISK ORM Network, a vision of the operational risk profile of Leasing Solutions (containing technological risks)
- Provide opinions, based notably on second level controls and independent analysis carried out by the 2nd Line of Defence, of the robustness of the system put in place by the first line of defence (organisation, procedural corpus, identification of processes and associated risks, robustness of the control framework put in place, incident management, feedback, taking into account permanent control actions and general inspection recommendations, processing of exemptions, among others), which may, if necessary, lead to permanent control actions
- Provide a qualitative and quantitative monitoring of historical incidents, including in particular an analysis of the most important of them and supervision of the associated action plans, concerning the following risks: Fraud, Safety of People and Properties, Deterioration of Assets, Outsourcing, Business Continuity, Technological Risks, Personal Data Protection (delegated to the Data Protection Officer), and Processes errors execution
- Provide a qualitative monitoring of events external to Leasing Solutions (notably Leasing sector ones) that may impact the risk profile of Leasing Solutions
- Provide a quantitative and qualitative management of the remediation of the general inspection recommendations of Leasing Solutions
- Pass on the Leasing Solutions contribution to the Operational Risk and Control (OR&C) Report
- Moreover, given the growing level of technology in Group's operational processes and the need for technological risks, as well as operational risks, to be well and truly covered by the Leasing Solutions OROs team: To contribute to the reinforcement of the 2nd Line of Defence in terms of technological risks (this role is globally managed at corporate level by the ORO Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Leasing Solutions who liaises directly with the Operational Permanent Control (OPC) IT Leasing Solutions, RISK ORM ICT Group, and the OROs Leasing Solutions in countries
- Ensure that the Governance relating to the management of operational risks (for example, internal control committee of Leasing Solutions) includes technological risks
- Strengthen the involvement of the 2nd Line of Defence in the preparation of the Information Systems Strategic Committees (CSSI) and the major projects committees (CGP) of Leasing Solutions and ensure their follow-up (for example, implementation of actions associated with identified risks)
- Develop the supervision of the identification and assessment of technological risks by the 1st Line of Defence of Leasing Solutions, including in particular: Leasing Solutions technological risk assessment exercises achievement; The identification of critical and vital IT assets, and the assessment of the impacts of the risks relating to these assets on the Business processes of Leasing Solutions; The identification of critical “third parties”, and the assessment of the technological risks associated with their services as well as the impacts of the latter on the Business processes of Leasing Solutions; The consideration of technological risks as part of the methodology adopted by the Group in terms of operational resilience, in particular with regard to activities vital to the Group; Continuously improve the supervision of the collection of technological incidents within Leasing Solutions, ensuring that they are correctly documented and filled in the corresponding tools; Develop the implementation of second level controls in terms of technological risk within Leasing Solutions; Contribute to the development of Cyber and Operational Resilience communities
- In terms of governance, the OROs team of Leasing Solutions: Prepares and animates, with the Global Head of OROs of Leasing Solutions, the internal control committees of Leasing Solutions at corporate and country level, in the presence of the CEO of Leasing Solutions (two meetings per year); Participates and contributes to the monthly RISK ORM forum, gathering all the OROs from Leasing Solutions; Participates and monitors the key instances related to operational risks (Outsourcing committees, Anti-fraud committees, ICT risk committees, among others)
Profile and Skills to Success
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics / Finance / Accounting or related
At least 2 years of experience in a Team of Operational Processes / Managing Operational Risk in the 1st or 2nd Line of Defence / Banking and Financial Operations / Risk and Controls or similar
Advanced level of English, both written and oral
Knowledge in Technological Risk / MS Office Pack (Excel, Powerpoint)
Ability to challenge the existing and propose solutions (change management)
Ability to develop and leverage networks
Ability to manage/facilitate a meeting / seminar /committee / training, among others
Ability to collaborate / teamwork
Ability to synthetise / simplify

About the Team
- RISK Operational Risk Management (RISK ORM), created in early 2021 to oversee operational risks within the mandate of the RISK function, is organised, under the responsibility of the Group Chief Operational Risk Officer (Group CORO), around 3 Poles: RISK ORM Framework, RISK ORM Technology & Transversal Risks, and RISK ORM Network. Under the authority of the Pole’s Manager, RISK ORM Network is made up of all the Operational Risk Officers acting as the 2nd Line of Defence within the Group’s operational entities (Poles, Business Lines, Functions, transversal Activities). In this context, the OROs’ Team of Leasing Solutions is organised as described below
- At corporate level, the Global Head of ORO Leasing Solutions reports hierarchically to the CRO of Leasing Solutions, and functionally to the Global Head of ORO CPBS, and the OROs of Leasing Solutions (including the ORO ICT Leasing Solutions) report hierarchically to the Global Head of ORO Leasing Solutions
- At country level, the Head of OROs Leasing Solutions reports hierarchically to the CRO of the country/cluster, and functionally to the Global Head of ORO Leasing Solutions. The ORO Leasing Solutions reports hierarchically to the Head of OROs Leasing Solutions in the country
- The OROs Team of Leasing Solutions is supported by the mutualised platform between ARVAL and Leasing Solutions, delivering transversal operational risk services, towards both entities
