Business area 

Prime Services Technology is part of Global Equites Market and comprises Cash Prime Brokerage, Synthetic Prime Brokerage, Trade Processing, Client Experience, Cross Product Margining and Margin & Risk Management. Prime Service provides Finance solutions to clients that required exposure to underlying securities.

Job purpose

The role is embedded in a globally distributed Synthetic Prime Technology team with presence in London, New York, Hong Kong, Lisbon, and Glasgow etc. The remit of the team is to deliver a high profile Synthetic Prime Brokerage lifecycle engine platform called ESS (Equity Swap System). The platform supports trading activity of the biggest hedge funds and institutional clients, globally.

The role holder will be responsible for developing key components including a fresh real-time data streaming platform. Responsibilities include participating in Scrum Agile ceremonies and liaising with stakeholders to refine design and requirements. Solutions delivered will be well documented and observable with automated testing. Expectation for continuous effort to keep projects stable, resilient and modern while leveraging AI tooling in daily tasks.

The role holder will form partnerships with the Architecture, Business Analysis, QA and Product Development teams to design solutions that are optimal for the Synthetic Prime Brokerage business. The design of solutions will need to consider the impact of the full front to back business process and not just the components of the Synthetic Prime Brokerage system.

The role requires a pro-active approach to improve the development lifecycle of the application, working with peers within sister Technology teams. There is a need to forge strong working relationships with the Production Management APS team to release regularly in automated fashion to Staging and Production environments whilst maintaining platform stability. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the full development lifecycle of a project from design, to deployment in production and post release supportability.
  • Ensure end-deliverables are clearly defined and communicated; ensure that stakeholders are  kept informed of each deliverable’s progress, issues and risks.
  • Pro-actively manage risk & issues - escalating where appropriate – ensuring delivery progress is maintained
  • Work in projects with an agile methodology delivering incremental deliverables that improve the business functionality whilst limiting risk to Production systems
  • Work closely with the business, operations and development teams to design, deliver and implement future state architecture.
  • Partner with the architecture teams to ensure robust design and adherence to bank wide architectural goals.
  • Design solutions that align technology roadmaps to business strategy and conduct high-quality functional design, system, integration testing and UAT.
  • Work closely with Production Management APS to deliver a stable & reliable platform under all necessary controls

Requirements 

  • Significant experience in commercial software development
  • Experienced in adopting AI as part of the standard development lifecycle
  • Strong multi-threaded Java technical skills, be an advocate of test driven development and be experienced in delivery automation. 
  • Experience with K8s, Docker, SQL & message driven solutions would also beneficial.
  • Experience working in Unix / Linux operation systems
  • Experience working with SDLC tools: Jira, BitBucket, Artifactory, Jenkins, etc
  • Experience working in a global team, helping others through pair programming and knowledge sharing and helping the team improve their development practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Has a can-do attitude, can partner with others inside and outside of the development team to investigate issues, drive conversations to find and agree solutions and communicate those solutions to a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Able to partner with business, operations, developers, architects and infrastructure teams to help shape the future platform.
  • Proven experience in working in local development teams
