The position at
a glance
ICAT team, which is part of Global Banking Americas, is responsible of the credit risk profile for all institutional clients, intragroup entities, and market infrastructure entities, as well as their related credit approval processes.
In detail
- Assist the preparation of credit reviews/committees on financial institutions (these can include banks, brokers, sovereigns, pension funds, hedge funds, mutual funds, insurance companies, REITs, CCPs, financial sponsors…)
- This process includes comprehensive financial analysis on the counterparty and comparison with its peers, recommendation of rating using internal rating models, and expression of credit opinion.
- Capital markets: derivatives (swaps, foreign exchange, credit and equity derivatives), repo, securities lending, prime services.
- Corporate banking: import and export trade finance transactions, and syndicated loan participations.
- Coordinate all aspects of a credit process in liaison with Relationship Managers, Business, and other Functions
- Review all legal documentation during annual review, ensuring all necessary documents are in place (including guarantees)
- Contribute to the recommendation of the bank’s credit appetite and exposure management
- Work closely with Relationship Managers, Traders, Market Risk, Legal and Operations personnel to structure transactions to mitigate diverse forms of risk

Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited Canadian post-secondary program
- Must be able to work in the local premises
- Be 18 and over
- Have at least one more semester left after completion of internship
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Student completing their Bachelor’s degree with a graduation date of December 2024 or May 2025 (with finance or economic background preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work with cross-locational multicultural teams
- Self-starter motivated to learn about financial sectors and capital markets products.
- Knowledge of the banking industry and capital markets products
- Keen interest in following the evolving trends in the industry
- Ability to understand and summarize complex and/or technical issues
- Prioritization of tasks / organization and ability to multi-task
- Given the vast majority of our clients, both
internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific
language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English is required.
