Business Overview:
BNP Paribas Mexico’s Corporate Clients Group integrates Corporate Coverage and Advisory under a single team. Corporate Coverage focuses on developing and enhancing BNP Paribas’ relationships with leading Local Corporate Clients and MNCs across a wide range of industries offering comprehensive solutions across Corporate and Investment Banking products. Advisory delivers advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, primary and secondary equity capital markets transactions as well as equity private placements. In this context, the Analyst will support the CCG Mexico Team both in Corporate Coverage and Advisory activities, managing relationships and executing transactions with large companies, with the aim of helping develop key relationships for the franchise. The team is specifically in charge of:
o Managing client relationships on a global basis
o Identifying new industry trends and related client needs
o Working closely with our product specialists in delivering tailored solutions to our clients across the full product suite (Advisory, DCM, LCM, Global Markets, ERI, Transaction Banking, etc.)
o Understanding client needs and objectives
o Establishing and nurturing regular contacts at various levels of the client organization in order to develop long-term business relationships
Corporate Coverage Responsibilities:
o Commercial Support: Provide day-to-day support to Bankers, VPs and relevant stakeholders, mainly in the commercial efforts with Local Corporate Clients and MNCs. Coordinate and prepare pitchbooks in advance of client meetings. Attend in-person and virtual meetings regularly. Be thoroughly prepared for client meetings, including knowledge of ratings, current exposure, debt profile, sales, business description, and approved lines. Prepare Business Screening Committees including details of transactions, and submit Resource Allocation Committees requests
o Reporting: Maintain revenues databases updated promptly after being published providing key insights to Management, Bankers and team. Update the Forecast database as soon as new deals are closed. Prepare draft versions of the budget for consultation with Bankers. Send Weekly Dashboards on time, always ensuring data quality. Organize and prepare Management presentations
o Business Lines Support: Stay close to business lines to provide support from the Coverage and CCG team. Coordinate conversations between business lines and Bankers. Follow up on current opportunities and tracking of pipelines
o MNC Initiative: Originate pitches for MNC clients, consolidate prospect databases regularly and manage specific corridors identifying new business opportunities. Increase MNC client's franchise through proactive efforts
o KYC and ESG Assessments: Independently lead the onboarding and recertifications process in a timely manner, supporting End-to-End coordinators when required. Conduct ESG and CSR assessments and support related internal activities
o Credit Management: Participate in the end-to-end credit process, incl. financial and credit analysis of new and existing credit requests and annual reviews; support the preparation of credit proposals in line with internal credit policies, developing a strong understanding of policy frameworks and applying them in practice to assess feasibility, navigate constraints, and structure compliant solutions; coordinate closely with Corporate Credit Management to ensure timely, and accurate approvals. Lead client portfolio requests by preparing analyses on top exposures, industry and rating distribution.
Advisory Responsibilities:
o Assist on the marketing and execution of M&A transactions in accordance with BNP Paribas’ standards and processes
o Perform industry and company specific research, and strategic analyses using BNP Paribas analysis matrix
o Participate in the preparation of pitches and marketing materials in compliance with BNP Paribas’ internal rules and templates
o Perform financial analysis and build detailed financial models presenting balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statements as well as key operating KPIs
o Perform business valuations utilizing the discounted cash flow valuation methodologies as well as public market and transaction multiples in accordance with BNP Paribas’ BVT (“Business Valuation Team”) internal methodologies, in particular regarding:
o Cost of Capital computation model (proprietary direct method)
o “Cash Flow Fade” proprietary DCF terminal value methodology
o Comparable companies’ beta deleveraging (factoring in beta of pension assets and liabilities)
o Provide all other support as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
o Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field, with an anticipated graduation date within the next 6-12 months
o Prior work experience is a plus, in bulge bracket or large boutique investment banking, private equity, consulting or a Big Four accounting firm
o Knowledge of corporate finance theory, financial markets, and investment culture
o Strong data management and research skills
o Project management skills is a plus
o Strong analytical and quantitative skills
o Strong affinity for teamwork, with relevant communication skills
o Detail oriented and reliable with a complete focus on quality results/deliverables
o Working proficiency in Spanish and English, both verbal and written
o Technical proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point, as well as Capital IQ, and/or Bloomberg
Preferred Qualifications:
o Demonstrated record of academic excellence
o 6+ months of internship experience in Corporate and/or Investment Banking
o Knowledge of Mexican Corporate Market, Latin America
