The position at a glance
The Client Engagement and Protection (CEP) Regulations team has two teams:
Onboarding Team which is a client-focused communication team devoted to facilitate the regulatory onboarding of the clients to CIB and their respective capital markets activities, ensuring that they have satisfied their regulatory obligations before establishing an account. The regulatory analyst will be required to interact with clients, internal and external stakeholders to obtain answers in the form of affirmative responses, classification codes, and or documentation to satisfy the myriad of industry regulations (EMIR, Dodd Frank, CFTC Rules etc.) governing the respective products or activity. The regulatory analyst will work closely with stakeholders contributing to the overall process of onboarding.
Post onboarding Team is a client-focused communication team devoted to handling the notification process of new and substantial regulatory challenges facing our clients in the Americas. R2C2 will focus remediation projects for new rules for various global regulatory requirements that our clients may be subject to. The team will mainly focus on project execution and will serve as a single point of contact for BNP internal members and clients and will be responsible for regulatory remediation for existing accounts.
R2C2 will coordinate client communication projects to remediate any pending items necessary to meet regulatory requirements by their compliance dates and minimize any disruption to trading with our clients. The team will respond to inquiries from clients and the front office about regulatory reform related initiatives and provide frequent status updates regarding BNP Paribas' client compliance. R2C2 will arrange interdepartmental regulatory client facing efforts by liaising between the front office, legal, compliance, on-boarding, client coverage and operations to avoid duplication of efforts and provide "one voice" for BNP Paribas on regulatory reform.
In detail
- Oversee regulatory projects and project execution that involve updating account information.
- Analyzing and determining the regulations for the client’s onboarding.
- Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders for collection and documentation of regulatory requirements ensuring alignment with US and EU regulations.
- Create detailed KPIs to track project progression that will be presented to Management.
- Actively assess team processes and internal systems to propose ways of improving efficiency or streamlining work.
- Engage with other business partners involved in regulatory projects to assess downstream impacts.
- Ensuring internal system are updated with accurate regulatory data points and regulatory documents collected from counterparty is stored in central repository systems.
- Post trade remediation that includes the daily review of various daily, weekly, and quarterly exception reports.
- Addressing and responding inquiries and requests via team mailboxes professionally while meeting target SLA’s.
- Take ownership of unforeseen issues that may arise during the processes/projects and escalate appropriately to ensure timely resolution while managing the expectations of affected stakeholders.
- Lead group discussions by drafting effective meeting agendas and circulate meeting minutes with clear action items.
- Sound understanding of project management lifecycle and principals.
- Knowledge of third-party vendors such as Dealogic, S&P Global (formerly IHS Markit) and continued updates of regulatory submissions as required.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Educational experience – Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant financial industry experience
- Minimum of 2 years exposure to IT development, drafting business requirements and project coordination testing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in projects involving banking operations, rules and regulations that govern banking operations (i.e., FINRA, Dodd Frank, CFTC, EMIR, etc.)
- Must know how to use Excel functions such as v-lookups, pivot table and have an understanding of how to organize/analyze data sets.
- Working knowledge of computers and of standard software (MS Suite); proficiency with MS Excel and Power BI
- Preference to majors in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Computing, Mathematics or other related field of study
- Excellent communications skills, (oral and written)
- Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities (multi-task) – meet tight deadlines.
- Have a problem-solving mindset and ability to “connect the dots” across topics or work streams
- Build relationships and gain trust with key internal stakeholders.
- Strong sense of urgency with respect to deadlines and the responsibility at hand
- Strong product knowledge in swaps, derivatives, and securities
- Rigorous attention to detail
- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of English is required.
