Role Description and purpose

The Quantitative Research Analyst will be part of the Client Advisory department and will perform research for BNPP AM’s tools and models in support of providing customized investment advice to clients in the Wholesale, Insurance, Pension, Corporate and Private segments, globally. The Quantitative Research Analyst will contribute to providing investment advice through the maintenance and development of advisory models and tools; engage in client, industry and regulatory research; contribute to client relevant thought leadership; and communicate about the models and solutions we design for clients in a clear and accessible way. 

The Quantitative Research Analyst will work in a team of five Quantitative research analysts, all with a strong quantitative background, and will collaborate closely with the Portfolios Design team (who will run the models) and Advisors (who will pitch the solutions to clients) – all in the Client Advisory department. The Research Analyst will also work closely with BNPP AM’s central quantitative research team in the Transversal Services department. 

key responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative research in support of maintaining and improving BNPP AM’s investment advisory models 
  • Build dedicated tools and models to tailor existing strategies to meet the constraints of clients
  • Analyze client and industry specific investment needs and trends in support of the development of new investment solutions
  • Constructively challenge the quantitative frameworks BNPP AM is using in advice to clients and help improve and innovate
  • Work together with various colleagues in the Research team, in the Client Advisory department, in the Transversal Quant teams; in the Investment teams; and in the Functions where applicable (eg regulatory watch team)
  • Present and explain internally and externally the quantitative models, tools and methodologies that BNPP AM is using 
  • Contribute to Thought leadership 
  • Contribute to the commercialization of customized investment solutions and new product development

Role Requirements

Essential skills/competencies (TEchnical / behavioural / leadership)

  • Proven interest in financial markets and financial products (e.g., minor in finance and/or economics)
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics and quantitative modelling
  • Good programming skills (preferably in Python, and data handling skills)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Emotional intelligence, being aware of own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and how these may impact performance
  • Reflects on and learns from mistakes and setbacks.
  • Finds the most logical solution, avoids complexity
  • Good organizational skills, ability to get things done working together with colleagues and other teams
  • Dares to do things differently

Conduct

  • Demonstrate proactivity, transparency and accountability for identifying and managing conduct risks
  • Consider the implications of your actions on colleagues, partners and clients before making decisions and escalate issues to your manager when unsure
     

Essential qualifications & experience

  • A master in a quantitative study with 2-4 years of experience in the field
  • Passionate about quantitative finance
  • Can understand clients’ situations and circumstances 
  • A pragmatic approach where research expertise and commercial relevance are balanced 
  • Strong communication skills
