Operational Risk Officer CE

As an Operational Risk Officer at Arval Central Europe (CE), you will support risk-related activities across 6 countries in the region, with a particular focus on our two Competence Centers in Warsaw and Bratislava. You’ll join a team responsible for strengthening the permanent control framework and overseeing operational risk through second-level controls. In this role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, helping to ensure that permanent control framework and operational risk management are effectively implemented, executed, and aligned with BNPP Group and Arval methodologies.

Please note that position is located in Arval Service Lease in Warsaw, Poland and includes a hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 days of remote working).

Main responsibilities and tasks:

  • Support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the operational risk and permanent control framework across CE entities
    • Assist with risk mapping, assessments, and control framework monitoring
    • Review the quality of risk components (controls, procedures, incidents, etc.)
    • Challenge key areas such as risk assessments, incident completeness, outsourcing arrangements Business Continuity Plans, etc.
    • Perform independent testing and reviews of first-line controls and processes
  • Promote the CE regional vision of operational risk and ensure awareness across business units
  • Advise and support countries on applying the risk framework to local contexts
  • Contribute to the preparation of Internal Control Committees
  • Coordinate with other control functions on cross-functional topics and reporting

Expertise & Skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of general professional experience, including Risk Management: While deep expertise in operational risk is not required, background in general risk management practices is essential. The ideal candidate brings risk expertise and can engage with operational risk topics effectively, even if it is not their primary specialization.
  • Knowledge of Arval products and processes is a strong advantage
  • Analytical mindset: Solid analytical skills are required; audit or control experience is a plus
  • Language skills: Fluent English is required; knowledge of a Central European language or French is a plus
  • Digital skills: Proficiency in MS Office, advanced Excel skills are an advantage
  • Attention to detail: Ability to work with precision while identifying and communicating key insights
  • Structured and reliable: Organized, disciplined, and able to meet deadlines independently
  • Collaborative mindset: A strong team player with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across functions and countries
  • Education: A degree in Risk Management, Law, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
