FICC offers a range of products across FX, Rates, Credit and Commodities in both developed and emerging markets. From millisecond electronic trading supported by the most advanced AI platforms, through to analogue risk transfer and bespoke solutions to Macro problems.

Global credit financing franchise addresses the funding of the full credit collateral spectrum on a secured basis. Offering flexible and comprehensive financing solutions to support client's trading and hedging needs.

Job purpose 

As an Intern in the Repo and Financing (R&F) team, the role holder will be accountable for providing support to more senior team members on routine tasks related to the trading activity carried out in the team. Their work will be focussed on developing their understanding of the trading activity and working under direct supervision from more experienced colleagues. Activities are process oriented, with time spent on routine tasks (e.g. process automation, due diligence, document processing, reconciliation of data).

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in Technical and Business Skills Training; 
  • Complete specific assignments; 
  • Accountable as an entry level internal within the Credit Repo and Financing team responsible for providing support to senior team members on day to day activities, including:
    • Helping to automate repetitive tasks,
    • Cashflows on Loan TRS and financing transactions both on the asset and funding legs, and flows in and out of SPVs using for refinancing activity, 
    • Conduct follow-ups with Middle Office and Back office on transactions booked by the trading team,
  • Utilises knowledge in the team to understand and apply best practices to all activities, and helps to identify potential process improvements to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the support provided both personally and the team;
  • Continue professional development and improving knowledge on relevant products, regulations and tools to enable greater autonomy in the delivery of allocated tasks through on-the-job learning as well as through attendance at relevant training events; 
  • Accurately and succinctly delivers information to team members to support their work, and builds internal working relationships with other traders and teams (including sales, structuring, middle office and back office teams) to ensure effective collaboration and franchise development.

Requirements

  • Degree from a leading university with an excellent academic record; or equivalent work experience;
  • Good understanding of financial markets;
  • Curious and eager to learn;
  • Confident verbal, written communication and networking skills;
  • Proficient with MS Office tools, including Excel; 
  • Great organisational, multitasking and time management skills; 
  • Strong analysis and judgement; 
  • Meticulous accuracy with a keen eye for detail; 
  • Team player, proactive, independent, enthusiastic self-starter with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Additional languages are an advantage;
  • Programming skills (C++, Python, Java, R or other equivalent) will be needed.
