Position Overview
We are seeking an Expert Java Developer to join our team at BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions in Chennai, India. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain robust Java applications, working closely with both technical and business teams to deliver features that meet requirements. You will also ensure that all developments adhere to best practices and monitor deployments to higher‑level environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and deliver complex software solutions that align with business goals.
- Lead development teams, manage project timelines, enforce coding standards, and oversee the full software‑development lifecycle.
- Integrate Java/Spring Boot, write unit tests, and ensure code quality / readiness for User Acceptance Testing.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, communicate blockers, and estimate / design technical solutions for business requirements.
- Maintain clean code and robust infrastructure, and produce release documentation for each deployment.
- Identify, raise, and implement technical improvements, performance optimizations, and process‑enhancement initiatives.
- Support deployment and release management while providing daily monitoring and support for live applications.
- Mentor junior developers and facilitate knowledge‑sharing sessions within the team.
- Create detailed design and user documentation, and define application objectives and functionality.
- Own delivery of assigned JIRA tickets each sprint and actively contribute to developer‑community events and initiatives.
Required Education Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of software‑development experience designing, building, and maintaining large‑scale, mission‑critical applications.
- Hands‑on expertise in Java 17 and later versions, with a solid track record of delivering production‑ready code.
- Frameworks – Spring Boot, JMS, and other Java frameworks
- Application Servers – IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM WebSphere MQ
- Databases – PostgreSQL (or another relational DBMS) and solid database‑management skills
- Microservices & Distributed Architecture – design, implementation, and maintenance
- Cloud & Containerisation – Kubernetes, Terraform, Infrastructure‑as‑Code (deployment, security, monitoring)
- CI/CD & DevOps – Git, GitLab/GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, Docker, DevSecOps practices
- Security – strong background in security best practices
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Liferay (portlets, Service Builder, OSGi)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Centreon, Dynatrace, etc.)
- Experience with project tracking software (Jira, Confluence, QC, etc.)
- Experience with deployment/versioning tools (Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of SQL language and ability to check test cases on own directly by launching SQL requests on different databases
- Experience in mentoring junior developers and contributing to process improvements
