YOUR JOB IN A NUTSHELL

Join BNP Paribas Fortis, where compliance isn’t just a function-it’s a safeguard!

Our Compliance Department operates as an independent control function, ensuring regulatory adherence while protecting the bank’s reputation.

As a Compliance Controls & Risk Management (CCRM) officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in identifying compliance risks through rigorous analysis of business processes and control frameworks.

Your mission:

  • Assess & strengthen – Evaluate control effectiveness and guide business lines in addressing risks.
  • Challenge & improve – Question existing processes, highlight weaknesses, and drive pragmatic solutions.
  • Collaborate & influence – Work with stakeholders to foster a risk-aware, efficient compliance culture.

We’re looking for a senior auditor or control professional—someone with a razor-sharp analytical mind and a knack for partnering with business teams to mitigate compliance risks.

If that sounds like you, bring your expertise to our team and help shape the future of compliance at BNP Paribas Fortis!

AND IN DETAIL

As a senior CCRM officer within Compliance, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting assessment of business processes and control frameworks to identify, on a risk based approach, compliance risks, gaps, and inefficiencies.
    • Analyzing end-to-end processes to assess their alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Documenting findings in a clear, structured, and actionable manner for business lines and management.
  • Executing first and second-line compliance controls with a risk-based approach, ensuring controls are fit for purpose and effectively implemented.
  • Reporting control deficiencies and facilitating the definition of remediation plans by working closely with business teams to identify pragmatic and sustainable solutions.
  • Challenging compliance risk assessments submitted by business partners, questioning assumptions and methodologies to ensure a robust risk evaluation.
  • Monitoring the implementation of regulatory and audit recommendations, ensuring that corrective actions are completed on time and effectively address root causes.
  • Supporting business lines in designing risk mitigation measures by providing compliance expertise and guiding them toward effective solutions.
  • Collaborating with Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Compliance Domains to align on risk assessments and avoid control overlaps.
  • Contributing to compliance reporting by providing concise, risk-focused insights for senior management.

YOUR TALENTS AND COMPETENCES

We’re seeking a highly analytical professional with a strong auditing background-someone who can dissect processes and controls to identify risks and guide business teams toward effective mitigation.. The right candidate will bring:

  • Experience as an auditor (internal/external) or control specialist;
  • Familiarity with compliance controls in a banking environment (experience in Corporate Banking, CIB, or Market Integrity is a plus but not mandatory).
  • A critical and detail-oriented mindset, with the ability to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and assess risks objectively.
  • A collaborative and solution-driven approach, focused on partnering with business lines to address risks rather than imposing solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate findings clearly and constructively to drive action.
  • Autonomy and rigor in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • An appetite and/or experience in data analysis and its potential (e.g. leveraging data for control testing or risk identification) is a significant asset
  • A master’s degree in Law, Risk Management, Audit, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Fluency in French, Dutch and English (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, data analysis) and PowerPoint for reporting.

WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER

OUR IMPACT

As a company, we implement concrete and sustainable solutions to reduce our environmental footprint, such as saving paper and resources, recycling our waste, encouraging the use of green transport, buildings that are designed and managed to limit our impact, etc.

YOUR CAREER PERSPECTIVES

The departments that make up BNP Paribas Fortis cover a wide range of activities. You will therefore have many opportunities for ‘horizontal’ and ‘vertical’ career development.

OUR OFFER

You will enjoy a permanent contract with an attractive salary package. You'll be working at our Brussels headquarters, just a short stroll from the railway station. We support your work-life balance by offering a mixture of in-person and remote work, among other things.

At BNP Paribas Fortis, we want to attract and retain all talent, whatever their gender, age, background or sexual orientation, and irrespective of whether they are living with a disability, as every person has their own experiences and their own identity. All of our full-time vacancies are also open to candidates wishing to work on an 80% or 90% full-time equivalent basis.

If the function is categorized as a banking services provider function (cf. Law of 22 April 2019 establishing an oath and a disciplinary regime for the banking sector), you will also need to provide us with a 'certificate of absence of professional ban' from the FSMA confirming that you are not professionally disqualified.

A first selection is made based on your CV and motivation letter. Are we convinced that you are the right candidate? Then we will contact you.
