Who will I be working with?

You will be based in the UK Legal CIB General Counsel Team but encouraged to work across various internal UK CIB Legal teams. The program you will undertake would be the CILEX Level 3 Diploma in Providing Legal Services (L3 Paralegal Apprenticeship).The UK CIB Legal team supports both Global Banking and Global Markets business teams so the legal work undertaken is extremely varied across multiple transaction teams. In addition to working in legal transaction teams you will also be working with the General Counsel Office, Dispute Resolution and Regulatory teams.

What will I be doing?

Working within this team will require you to perform complex and specialised tasks and become fluent in the Bank’s systems and processes. Such duties can include:

  • Carrying out and assisting with various research tasks;
  • Reviewing, drafting and producing legal documents and standard forms;
  • Assisting with the inception, progress and completion of client files;
  • Communicating (written and oral) with internal and external clients;
  • Supporting governance meetings for which the team is responsible or contributes to (e.g. taking minutes, sharing action points, preparation of agendas);
  • Assisting with preparing reporting submissions;
  • Assisting with the production of “know how” for the team; and
  • Contributing to initiatives and projects.

Technical Skills and Qualifications required for the role

  • Three A-levels or equivalent to 96 UCAS points (and GCSE Maths and English)
  • Preferred candidates who are finishing A-levels in 2026 or attained within the past 12 months
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail skills 
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Additional Information

  • Apprentices need to have a continued right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the programme.
  • You may only apply for one Apprenticeship role per academic year. 
  • Our apprenticeship roles are aimed at candidates who have not already completed a degree at a University.
