About this opportunity
We are looking for a Swedish legal counsel to join our CIB Nordic Legal team and a fast-growing Nordic business, working closely with a diversified CIB team in an international environment, cooperating with colleagues all over the world.
We are looking for an agile and service-oriented transactional lawyer and team player who is up for the challenge to grow together with BNP Paribas in the Nordics. In this role, you will be part of a highly professional team of Nordic lawyers, assisting the Nordic CIB business in monitoring and managing legal risks, focusing on transactional matters but also being involved in legal and regulatory projects that affect the Swedish, Finnish, Danish and Norwegian branches of CIB in general.
This is also an opportunity to join during our Nordic transformation of the Legal Function in BNP Paribas, working with lawyers and business partners in not only CIB but also in our other Group business units in the Nordics to identify and advise on mutual legal matters.
Reporting to the Head of CIB Legal Nordics, you will be coordinating the Nordic CIB Legal team’s assistance in transaction-related matters, working closely with the bank’s business teams and external clients in the Nordics to ensure due delivery of our legal advice and monitoring of legal risks. You will be advising our business teams on syndicated and bilateral loan transactions, financial advisory mandates and transaction banking and other transaction related matters for our large corporate and institutional clients.
The role is located in Stockholm.
Main scope of the role:
- Monitoring and advising the CIB business lines in the Nordics in transactional and regulatory legal matters, with a particular focus on syndicated and bilateral loan transactions, financial advisory mandates and transaction banking queries
- Responsibility for coordinating the Nordic Legal team’s assistance in transaction related matters in the Nordics, working closely with the other members of the CIB Legal team.
- Monitoring of and advising the CIB Nordics management teams on Legal risks, enabling the relevant stakeholder(s) to take informed decisions
- Provide other BNP Paribas legal staff across the globe with legal advice, assistance and support with regard to Swedish law and cooperate with other BNP Paribas legal staff and colleagues across the globe in relation to Swedish law related aspects
- Coordinating the Nordic CIB Legal team’s advice on Finnish law related topics with the assistance of external legal counsel, when needed
- Coordinate and cooperate with other BNP Paribas Nordic lawyers on mutual legal topics, and assist other Nordic BNP Paribas entities with legal advice as and when needed
- Contribute to the development of standard agreements and templates in alignment with Legal guidelines for products and documentation as appropriate and assist in keeping such documentation (and guidelines, to the extent applicable) updated
- Support the training and development of the legal trainee(s) within the team from time to time, and
- Analyze legal and regulatory changes and developments potentially affecting the BNP Paribas group and assist in mitigating any resulting legal risk, including ensuring necessary revisions to legal documentation, policies and procedures
Relevant experience and requirements
- Three to five years of prior experience from working in a law firm, bank or other financial institution
- Track record of advising on LMA based syndicated loan transactions
- Prior experience from of advising on regulatory matters for banks of other financial institutions is a plus but not a requirement
- Law degree, qualified in Sweden
- Strong Collaboration skills
- High level of professionalism and integrity
- Service-oriented proactive mindset with a strong focus on driving actions
- Fluent in written and oral English and Swedish
