EMEA Operational Permanent Controller
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for an EMEA Operational Permanent Controller who will oversee the permanent‑control framework across local entities, challenge first‑line risk management, monitor incidents, findings and action plans, coordinate transversal controls, and support a consistent Operational Risk Management Framework throughout EMEA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Governance with local entities – serve as primary contact, hold regular, maturity‑adjusted meetings; support and challenge 1LoD KPI delivery (RCSA, controls, incidents, action plans).
- Incident monitoring – aid the 1LoD in handling incidents and action plans, raise risk awareness, and trigger actions aligned with risk appetite.
- Procedural oversight – provide global review of each entity’s procedural framework based on central coordinator assessments.
- Transversal controls – define and update specific and transversal controls (fraud, ethics, outsourcing), verify completeness of control plans, keep the 1LoD control tool up‑to‑date, and manage related action‑plan creation and follow‑up.
- Findings follow‑up – coordinate timely closure of internal (inspection) and external (audit, regulator) findings and recommendations.
- TAC/NAC support – offer methodological guidance to Business Sponsors for local Transaction Approval Committee and New Activity Validation Committee submissions.
PROFILE & SKILLS
- 5–8 years of experience in operational permanent control, operational risk management, internal control or internal audit, ideally within financial services, asset management, banking or consulting.
- Previous experience as an Operational Permanent Controller, Operational Risk Manager, Internal Controller or Internal Auditor.
- Strong results orientation, with a continuous focus on process simplicity and efficiency.
- Candidates with a consulting background may also be considered, provided they have strong exposure to operational risk, internal control frameworks, assurance reviews or control transformation assignments.
- Proven ability to assess control design and operating effectiveness, identify weaknesses, formulate pragmatic recommendations and monitor remediation actions.
- Solid understanding of operational risk management frameworks, risk and control self-assessments, incident management, governance and regulatory expectations.
- Experience working with cross-functional and international stakeholders, with the ability to challenge constructively and communicate clearly with both business and control functions.
- Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Audit, Business Administration or a related discipline; a relevant professional certification would be an advantage.
- Fluent English; another European language is an advantage.
