As an Originator in Investment Grade (IG) part of our Debt Markets team, you will drive the origination, structuring, and execution of IG Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and Loan Capital Markets transactions for Benelux corporate clients.
An important part of this role will also be to invest in business development, with a particular focus on the Netherlands’ market in close collaboration with our Dutch Coverage colleagues.
Your role includes leading complex transactions, mentoring junior colleagues, and representing BNP Paribas Fortis as a trusted advisor to corporate clients.
The position on offer is part of the Belgian team, based in the Brussels.

The Debt Markets EMEA team is part of the Capital Markets department within our Corporate & Investment Banking division. We provide holistic capital structure advice and debt solutions, covering DCM products such as bonds or private placements, syndicated loans, corporate facilities, and event-driven transactions, with a product-neutral approach. Our team operates across Europe, with key hubs in the UK, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, and Spain.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Utilise detailed knowledge of IG Finance DCM and Loan Capital Markets to deliver strategic and commercial financing solutions to clients for event-driven situations and refinancing exercises.
- Lead and own tasks including:
- Originate, structure, and execute transactions across IG Loans and Bonds Markets.
- Develop marketing and business strategies to win new deals and clients.
- Maintain own client relationships through transaction follow-up and market updates.
- Negotiate key terms for transactions and manage flow of ongoing transactions.
- Taking responsibility for vetting and approving new business activities and transactions.
- Lead commercial conversations and interactions with clients on complex transactions, identifying new business opportunities with a focus on developing our Dutch client base.
- Represent BNP Paribas to clients at the appropriate level, coordinating business development strategies with other business lines, sectors, and geographies to maximize business revenue and client success.
- Support our IG Finance activities and invest in the development of junior colleagues, supervising the delegation of work to ensure effective and profitable output.
YOUR TALENTS AND COMPETENCES
- Expertise:
- We are seeking an experienced professional with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- In-depth knowledge of Debt Markets financing, including IG DCM and Loan Capital Markets.
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, debt financing for corporate clients, and capital markets products.
- Familiarity with rating methodologies and their implications for financing structures.
- Skills:
- Analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear advice.
- Relationship management and negotiation skills, with a track record of managing key stakeholder interactions.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to drive business development.
- Leadership qualities, including mentoring junior team members and ensuring high standards of work.
- Languages:
- Fluent in English (written and oral), with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly.
- Fluent in Dutch, enabling client interactions in Dutch.
- French is a plus.
- Tools & Mindset:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and investment banking databases (e.g., Bloomberg).
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
- Commitment to BNP Paribas’ values, including integrity, collaboration, and ethical conduct.
- A relevant Master Degree with an in-depth understanding of Debt Markets and financing solutions that meet different types of corporate needs.
