About the job

  • Within BNP Paribas CIB (Corporate & Institutional Banking), credit analysis plays a fundamental role in managing the risks taken when developing business with our clients. As part of Financial Institutions Coverage within CIB, Institutional Credit Analysts Team (ICAT) is in charge of credit analyses  of all institutional clients, intragroup entities, sovereigns, and market infrastructures globally
  • We are organized by region: AMER, APAC and EMEA and by underlying type of clients: Funds, Insurance & Pensions, Banks & brokers along with Official Institutions and Intragroup entities. In EMEA, FIC ICAT is present in three locations, Lisbon, London and Paris
  • ICAT performs credit analyses and provides credit recommendations to Credit Committees, in response to general enquiries, or to Portfolio Review committees
  • ICAT is a main partner for the Coverage, Business lines and RISK Senior Credit Officers for the clients falling under the financial institution credit process
  • FIC ICAT Lisbon team is composed of credit analysts among two teams, Funds and FIs. The Intragroup credit analyst will be part of the FI team, working very closely with the Paris Intragroup analyst and with RISK officers from the whole bank

Your Main Activities Are

  • Intragroup Credit Process
  • The Intragroup credit analyst (CA) supports the credit process on entities that are part of the BNP Paribas group
  • On the CIB perimeter, FIC ICAT Intragroup is in charge to coordinate the credit committee whole process from inception, i.e., the need raised by front office (ALM, Trade, Global Market mostly) up to the credit decision taken by risk decision makers as well as annual reviews of the limits granted to BNPP CIB entities. To this regard, the Intragroup Credit Analyst analyses the transaction and may draft a credit recommendation presented to the RISK decision makers
  • On the CPBS and IPS scope, FIC ICAT Intragroup is in charge to follow and reprocess credit decisions taken by RISK officers on a portfolio of Intragroup counterparties for which the credit analyst:
    • Is the system referent to provide the limits detail on any given counterparty
    • Interacts daily with the risk teams of the whole BNP Paribas group
    • Participates to preparatory meetings and credit committees to have a clear understanding of the limits
    • Makes sure he/she received all necessary information used in the credit decision
    • Reprocesses in the system the credit decisions taken
  • The team also promotes a strong culture of risk management within the FI Coverage and all front office teams
  • Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting
  • Continuously monitor the portfolio of counterparties under own responsibility, jointly with Credit Risk Control, monitoring excesses, anticipating risks, and detecting any credit issues that may require a specific review
  • Contribute to periodic and ad-hoc portfolio review and risk reporting for counterparties under scope
  • This position will allow you to become a central player within the intragroup domain, allowing you to:
  • Develop your network through collaboratively working with numerous stakeholders on a daily basis
  • Develop further your technical competencies regarding capital markets products, legal documentation and regulatory framework by closely following the market evolutions.
  • Have a central role in the credit decision process giving her/ him a great visibility but also significant responsibility
  • The successful applicant will be very much part of the EMEA team that will allow her/him to build up an extensive knowledge of the market

Profile and Skills to Success

  • Bachelors (or higher) in Economics, Finance or Banking 
  • Between 1 and 2 years of professional experience in financial industry
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a flexible and collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Self-driven, organized, rigorous and reliable
  • Strong interest and familiarity with risk management best practices, financial markets and economic developments
  • Ability to autonomously run/contribute to meetings, projects, seminars, committees or training
  • Good understanding and awareness of the regulatory framework for financial institutions is desirable
