The bank for a changing world

Start-ups which improve banking and finance

FinTech

The essential

But what is FinTech?

These are innovative young companies that are using technology to offer new services in the financial and banking sector. InsurTech is similar, but applies to the insurance sector.

Their goal is to approach the financial world in a way that’s simpler and more accessible for everyone, with lower-cost services that are better aligned with customers’ current needs. FinTech companies aren’t direct competitors to banks. In most cases, they offer complementary services and assist banks with their innovation strategy.

Our program FinTech Accelerator

The Accelerator for a changing world

This program is consistent with the Group’s strategy, which is based on digitalisation and innovation and powered, in particular, by partnerships with FinTech. The BNP Paribas Group’s collaboration with the tech start-up ecosystem consists of four main steps – sourcing, acceleration, pilot testing and full-scale rollout. The ultimate aim is to drive forward the digitalization of the Group’s businesses, enabling the rollout of innovative products and services in line with the changing needs and expectations of both Corporate and Individual Clients of the Bank. A major priority among BNP Paribas’ targets for the year 2020 is to create a digital bank that is able to offer a high-quality customer experience, both in terms of the customer journey and the security of operations.

“ These new players are inventing new services and new applications that are making it possible for us to expand our market. So they’re not competitors – they’re sources of inspiration that we’re working with and with which we’re seeking to develop synergies.  ”

Jean-Laurent Bonnafé
