Business Overview:
Finance Change Americas – COO Organization ensures that appropriate solutions are put in place for the Finance (accounting) and Tax organization to meet their business objectives.  The team acts as the bridge for the Finance and Tax organization to various departments within the BNP Paribas group, mainly the Business, PMO and Technology organizations in New York, New Jersey, Montreal, Mumbai, London and Paris. 
The team works simultaneously on a wide range of projects arising from business and regulatory changes, strategic initiatives and reengineering existing applications to improve functionality and efficiency.  The team also provides first line user support through training, research and responding to general queries.
The Business Analyst has broad-based responsibilities for the functional design, specification and deployment of Finance Systems initiatives. S/he will work as a team member or a team lead of projects (G/L conversion projects and Chart of Accounts). This includes:
  • Elicit, analyse, and document user requirements and business processes.
  • Develop functional specification requirements for IT development.
  • Define, test and execute the migration strategy.
  • Define and implement the framework of first level controls.
  • Manage issues and escalate effectively.
  • Ensure on-time quality delivery of projects assigned.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams (business groups, IT and PMO organizations) in New York, New Jersey, Montreal, Mumbai, London and Paris.
Specific responsibilities for the Operational Account Schemas/Accounting Static Control role:
  • Interpret and apply high level accounting policy guidance for financial products and challenge and/or validate illustrative accounting entries provided by Accounting Norms.
  • Application of the accounting policy in North America Region (NAR) Finance General Ledger Chart of Accounts.  This includes the definition of Operational Accounting Schemas throughout product lifecycle for new products, businesses, source systems and/or new accounting standards and validation of accounting in our General Ledger.
  • Standardize accounting schemas within NAR Finance and coordinate alignment of the General Ledger’s accounting schemas across common products with London.
  • Remediate inconsistencies in the General Ledger across accounts, products, legal entities and source systems.
  • Participate in the definition of the data model standards, including the purpose and scope of each field in the account coding block.
  • Maintain accounting static in the General ledger and IHC reporting layer.
  • Decision maker for opening of new static data as required (i.e. accounts, products, etc.) following published data model standards.
  • Coordinate monthly committees to report KPIs on all new static items explain decisions and respond to stakeholder questions.

  • University Degree in Finance-related subject preferred.
    • Qualified accountant – CPA
  • 10 + years of work experience in the field of accounting and / or accounting systems (i.e. upstream to general ledger) and implementation in the financial services industry.
  • Experience:  
    • Working with accounting of complex banking financial products.
    • With accounting standards; IFRS and US GAAP are both of interest.
    • In business analysis, writing functional specifications and testing applications would be of benefit.
  • BIG 4 experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and concisely to audiences of varying technical or accounting levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in geographically dispersed cross-functional teams.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
