The role

·         Supporting the Directors in all aspects of Building Consultancy

·         Diverse range of instructions and high level of client contact with the opportunity to build strong relationships and networks within our UK Offices

·         Working as part of the team on a diverse range of instructions covering all aspects of professional building surveying principally on behalf of private sector clients, both occupiers and investors.  The successful candidate will support the Directors in a high standard of service delivery


Roles and responsibilities

Main Accountabilities


·         Delivering projects, commissions and professional assignments

·         Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner

·         Responsible for managing own workload on a day-to-day basis

·         Preparing specifications for and administrating repair and refurbishment contracts

·         Preparing and negotiating schedules of dilapidations/preparing exit strategy

·         Undertaking Building Surveyor’s inspections and preparing reports

·         Preparing planned maintenance reports

·         Potential to project manage and act as development monitor on larger schemes depending upon experience


Clients and Business Development


·         Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner

·         Client facing role assisting in developing new business and building internal networks with the organisation

·         Active role in an expanding Building Consultancy team



·         Assuming a leading role in setting objectives and priorities working as a proactive team player

·         Shares knowledge with and provides information to colleagues and team


Systems and Process


·            Works within clearly defined, well established processes under regular supervision

·            Solves problems by following well defined processes and precedents

·            Consults more experienced colleagues on more difficult or unfamiliar situations




·            Generates revenue

·            Enhances BNP Paribas Real Estate’s reputation through successful delivery

·            Builds own network within service lines


Person specification




·            Degree in Building Surveying

·            MRICS qualified





Experience of design and contract administration duties - principally repair and maintenance works with some fit out

·            Dilapidations, acting on behalf of landlords/tenants

·            Schedules of condition

·            Fire insurance/reinstatement valuations

·            Planned maintenance



·            Acquisition/building surveys (Investor and occupier)

·            Party Wall

·            Project monitoring

·            DDA surveys

·            Defect analysis

·            CAD


Key Skills/Competencies

·            Good IT skills

·            To be commercially minded with a strong sense of professionalism

·            Good technical expertise

·            Confident with clients – good communication skills

·            Able to work with minimal supervision Keen to expand knowledge

·            Driven to develop career through qualification and longer term experience
