The Asia Multinational Banking Coverage, based in New York, is primarily responsible for delivering banking and advisory solutions to a defined list of CIB strategic corporate clients and prospects headquartered outside North America, but with meaningful operations and ambitions in the region. We may also help our colleagues in Asia to reach out to North America based companies to initiate cross-border transaction discussions. Working in full coordination with CIB Relationship Managers (RM) abroad, our colleagues at Bank of the West (when appropriate) and our product partners, we aim to deliver holistic solutions to our selected clients in Asia and the Americas.
The role of a Marketing Associate is: 1) to assist the RMs in Asia Multination Banking Coverage team to map the clients’ needs with a focus on cross-border investments and financing needs and support the marketing efforts, and 2) to manage the credit and compliance process. The mission is to act as the primary back-up for the RMs, externally (with clients) and internally (with business partners).
The primary job duty and responsibility for an associate is to make a difference by generating ideas and by working, externally and internally, in a collaborative and responsible way.
Assist the RMs through research and preparation of marketing materials for client meetings, and (when required) participate to the client discussions but also follow-up directly with the client on specific inquiries
Support the origination and execution of cross-border transactions between Asia and the Americas, which includes but not limited to translating documents between Chinese and English, organizing client events, leading conference calls etc
Support the marketing effort by performing analysis on financial statement and capital structure of clients, maintaining databases on client and industry-wide financial information (CRM system);
Prepare internal discussions by preparing comprehensive presentation materials on clients for both domestic and international reviews, and keep the client team up to date on significant developments with clients (strategic, financial and otherwise)
Contribute to the credit and compliance onboarding process to comply with all internal regulatory and risk rules, liaising with all the appropriate teams and respecting client deadlines.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin (spoken and written);
- 3-5 years of directly related experience in the industry, preferably investment banking;
- Demonstrated successful track record of business development and client cross-sell marketing
- Strong knowledge of corporate lending policies, procedures, practices and documentation.
- The job requires some traveling, mainly throughout the region. The intensity required to be a strong performer may necessitate regular evening and weekend work. Some diplomatic skills are helpful when we work with challenging clients and (internal) business partners.
MBA with investment banking experience
FINRA Registrations Required:
Series 79 and 63 investment banking licenses preferable, or required within 2 months
