The team – composed, besides you, of a team manager, a senior lawyer and a support/data officer – is in charge of the follow-up of all criminal files and of the main complex litigation files of BNP Paribas Fortis.
It handles the investigations driven by supervisors and authorities. Your team is moreover in charge of the internal fraud files. Finally, the team ensures the quality of the litigation reports to be addressed to the concerned external institutions and internal committees of the bank/the BNP Paribas Group and to the external auditors
In order to achieve your task, you will work in close collaboration with the lawyers of different business teams and the international colleagues of BNP Paribas.
Your future job :
  • You take care of the follow up of complex litigation, disputes and legal/administrative procedures in close collaboration with several business teams and lawyers of the BNP Paribas Group.
  • You analyse files, with a particular attention for legal and financial risks and you report all threats to our reputation.
  • You define the strategy, together with the management of Legal and BNP Paribas Fortis, the lawyers of the BNP Paribas Fortis Group and the designated external lawyer.
  • You report the litigations, procedures, … to the different stakeholders.
  • You report to your team manager.
Highlight your strengths !
Knowledge and experience
  • You have a master degree in Law from a Belgian university.
  • You have four to six years relevant experience in dispute handling. Preferably as a company lawyer in the financial sector or as an external lawyer. 
  • You master judicial and criminal law. Civil banking law and liability law have no secrets for you either.
  • You master the civil, criminal and administrative procedures.
  • You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch, French and English, written and spoken.
  • The knowledge of alternative dispute resolution and arbitration is an asset.
  • You are passionate by the banking world and you want to permanently enrich your legal knowledge.
  • You have an analytic mind, you work with precision and are attentive to potential risks.
  • You are result-oriented and stress resistant.
  • You are very good in oral communication.
  • You have team spirit.
  • You have an important adaptability and are open to innovation.
  • You know how to run and coordinate (external) lawyers and the other persons involved in an effective way.
  • You are very independent.
