Business Overview:
The Merchant Banking Group’s mandate is to provide financing for leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and refinancing and make direct equity co-investments. The MBG is focused on originating and leading non-investment grade debt financings for middle market focused buyout funds and equity sponsors.

Account Managers support MBG activity through the proactive management of any agented credit or participation, from closing until termination.
Responsibilities of the position include:
• Proactive management of any agented credit or participation, from closing until termination. The PM will be the primary contact person with: (i) the borrower, handling issues as they develop and maintaining an active calling schedule with customers; and (ii) the Risk Management Department, obtaining necessary credit approvals, and monitoring and communicating account information on a regular and as needed basis.
• Participation in closing of transaction including the AML/KYC/CARD process.
• Negotiation and execution of legal documentation after the original transaction.
• Evaluate borrowers’ compliance of all legal documentation, financial covenants, requirement and credits on a post closing basis.
• Prepare Annual Reviews, quarterly Watchlist/Doubtful Reports, and quarterly portfolio reviews.
• Process amendment/waiver requests.
• Prepare semi-annual valuations of the Bank’s equity co-investments in the portfolio companies.
• Assist internal and external auditors/examiners in their periodic reviews of the portfolio.

Objectives to be fulfilled:
1. Become familiar w/ borrowers in the Merchant Banking portfolio and manage a portfolio of accounts in a proactive way.
2. Maintain a constant dialogue with Origination on the portfolio companies’ performance and bring them in when the sponsor needs to get involved in a given deal.
3. Assist in achieving financial and strategic goals set forth for the NY Merchant Banking Group.
4. Assist in achieving reporting and regulatory requirements set forth for both MBG and the Credit & Portfolio Management groups.

• 2-4 year experience in leveraged finance and equity investing with a major investment bank, finance company or merchant banking operation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, accounting or relevant field. MBA preferred
• CPA or CFA is a plus.
• Strong financial and credit analysis skills combined with transactional execution experience.
• Self-starter, capable of functioning in a fast paced environment.
• Strong work ethic, team spirit and positive attitude.
• Computer proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required, as well as the ability to conduct financial research using the internet and web based databases.
