MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Advisory, implementation, Oversight, Reporting

The AVP - OPC will work extensively with the Securities Services Client Lines, Client delivery and Client Development teams to develop enhance and monitor the 1st line of defense control framework and will act as a key advisor to the Securities services Management.
In this role, he/she will act as a fundamental advisor to Securities Services managers in the implementation of an efficient control framework.
In order to be successful in this role, the individual will need to demonstrate aptitudes in acting as a reliable consultant to the senior management team of Securities Services Americas.  The individual will also need to demonstrate aptitudes in challenging decisions taken by his/her management and will demonstrate confidence to defend his/her own position.
The OPC’s advisory role consists of:
  • anticipating risks, obstacles, and devising plans to manage them
  • effectively communicating and partnering well with others to accomplish goals.
  • Understanding and translating strategies in to specific goals, tactics, action plans and deliverables.
  • The OPC must ensure that the operational/functional/client development managers have identified their risks:
  • by advising them in the implementation and maintenance of  a risk assessment and in the formalization of it according to the procedures
  • by checking that managers have identified the new risk incurred by new products, new processes, significant organizational changes or acquisition and by formalizing this control in an OPC analysis.
  • The OPC must ensure that managers have identified and quantified their main OR risks
  • The OPC is responsible for:
  • Adapting Risk ORC/ OPC Group and Securities Services procedures to the local specificities when necessary
  • Defining the specific local procedures that may be needed and checking that they are in line with the Group procedures (keeping up-to-date with the various market and regulatory requirements and applying them as appropriate).
  • The OPC must ensure that all historical OPC incidents are escalated, reported in the relevant databases and analysed.
  • The OPC must:
  • Collaborate with the managers to Implement the appropriate local operational and anti-fraud Control plans (1st line of defense)
  • Ensure the follow up of the action plans defined by managers if weaknesses identified
  • Recommendations and permanent control actions: follow up with people in charge of implementation, escalation if issues identified.
  • The OPC :
  • Contributes to the preparation of the reporting for the CORE committee
  • Contributes to the reporting to the Global OPC team
  • Represents his/her perimeter to North America OPC team calls, Monthly meetings and CORE committee.
  • Provides expertise on OPC matters for
  • Clients due diligence and Request for Proposal
  • Inspection Générale and regulator interviews
  • Is in charge of the implementation of any OPC related project (for his/her perimeter)
    Additional Responsibilities (Conduct Risks) :

This hire will assist the BP2S regional Head of Conduct in order to ensure the successful implementation of the Conduct Program in the Americas, as well as, continued centrality of Conduct within our business culture.

  • Assist BP2S Americas Head of Conduct in the implementation and monitoring of the CIB Conduct program throughout the Americas region.
  • Represent the BP2S Americas Head of Conduct in Conduct-related workshops.
  • Logistics and content management for training & risk analysis
  • Coordination and support for the Conduct Risk Identification exercise and risk mapping
  • Support to Client Lines, Client Delivery and MFS for the Conduct part of the CORE committee
  • Presentation development.
  • Data consolidation and management.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • AVP level or above
  • Previous experience in OPC
  • 3+ years of experience in Securities Services Operations , preferably in Sales and Client development
  • Demonstrated advisory experience
