Business Overview
The role of the RISK ORC team is to ensure an independent control (second line of defense) over the operational risk management framework and permanent control, mandated by BNP Paribas Group via the recently defined Operational Risk Program (ORP).  Operational risk is defined as the risk of loss resulting from the inadequacy or failure of internal processes or external events whether deliberate, accidental or natural.
The Governance, Projects and Support team plays an integral role in the successful rollout of both local and global projects, initiatives and governance standards by ensuring strong and effective communication across all geographical and functional areas. The team’s overall scope includes the business lines across BNPP CIB and Investment Partners (CIB/IP), Bank of the West (BOW), First Hawaiian Bank (FHB), the global regions where Risk ORC operates as well as Group Risk and other functions involved in the measurement and control of Operational Risk.
Position Overview
A successful candidate will have the skills necessary for assessing, analyzing and highlighting differences of approach in the execution of policy driven initiatives across Business Lines (BL) or geographical areas and driving those differences to a common approach and implementation or by documenting exceptions to policy/procedure where necessary.
The successful candidate will be required to perform various roles within the defined operational risk oversight framework, including:
Performance of Gap Reviews in matters of adherence to both IHC and Group policies
    • Ensure alignment across business units and locations to the IHC/CUSO policies
    • Documentation of gaps in adherence to policy for remediation or policy exception acceptance.
    • Maintain all aspects of review process including meeting scheduling, presentations, minutes and action plans. 
    • Assist in the implementation of action plans and escalation as required.

Leadership or contribution to leadership of projects or project work streams (both formalized and ad-hoc).

  • Organize all aspects of project or work stream including meeting scheduling, agendas, presentations, and discussions to drive resolution of open items.
  • Produce meeting minutes and follow up actions plans.  Drive resolution of action plans by performing business analysis on complex topics, facilitating dialogue between teams and proposing action plans. Escalate blocking points as required.
Drafting or revising policy and procedure documents as needed.
    • Liaising with local, IHC and Global resources to obtain and vet business requirements as needed.
    • Drafting Policy documents according to the policy on policy guidelines.
    • Scheduling and submitting policies to the proper governance body for review, approval and archiving as defined in the relevant team procedure.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or a related field. 
    • MBA a plus.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant Capital Markets industry experience within Operational Risk, Audit, or a professional consulting practice.
  • Working knowledge of project management life cycles and experience working in a project-based environment
  • Some documentation experience necessary (business requirements, process flows, procedures, GAP analysis, meeting decks and minutes).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work productively with multiple teams
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent organization and problem solving skills. Additional characteristics include accuracy, attention to detail and initiative.
  • Ability to consistently meet or beat deadlines.
