Position Details
 
We are looking for an Assistant Manager to join our Fund Accounting team to manage the day to day production activity of the team, help ensure client commitments are met and to support the team manager in managing all aspects of team performance including line management of staff as agreed with the line manager.
 
You’ll be working in the Open Ended Fund Accounting department, which is comprised of a number of different functions responsible for NAV production, monthly OEFA oversight controls and statutory and financial statements reporting services for UK Open Ended Investment Companies, Unit Trusts and UK administered SICAV’s and Dublin funds.
 
To be successful in this role you will be ideally able to demonstrate Fund Accounting and NAV experience, and have previous experience and passion for mentoring and coaching skills and the ability to manage your workload and delegate or assign work to others. You will have strong problem solving skills and be committed to continuous improvement of both your team and the processes and procedures involved in the role. It would be a great advantage if you have previously worked with or had exposure to pControl.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Operational Excellence
  • To meet client KPI’s and service delivery commitments
  • To plan, co-ordinate and manage the day to day client service delivery in accordance with agreed service level agreements, stated key performance indicators and regulatory requirements
  • To take ownership for review and sign-off of team deliverables including:
  • Daily Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations
  • Year end and interim financial statements
  • Distribution calculations
  • Monthly trustee / control packs
  • Management service charge calculations
  • Yield calculations
  • Total expense ratios
  • ONS Returns
  • Manage any ad-hoc projects as agreed with your Manager
  • Assist manager in ensuring client and internal change is implemented with no detrimental impact to client service delivery
  • Act as delegate to Manager during period of absence

 

Client Focus

  • Day to day production contact with Clients, Auditors, Trustees, Custodians and other departments within BNP Paribas Securities Services
  • Support Manager in embedding a culture of fund ownership providing for end to end knowledge and understanding
  • Manage business as usual client queries.

 

Risk and Control

  • Work with Manager to continually assess team processes to improve efficiency, control and to reduce risk
  • Completion of timely and accurate error reporting and implementation of preventative actions
  • Ensure all significant activities are documented within procedures, kept up-to-date and recorded on the procedure database
  • Ownership of team skills matrix and training requirements
  • Assist manager in team recruitment
  • Embed procedural knowledge within the team
  • Ensure all checklists clearly document controls, kept up-to-date and standardised across the department where possible
  • Ensure such controls are adhered to by the team
  • Timely escalation of issues to Manager
  • Corrective and preventative action if deadlines / quality standards are at risk
  • Provision of timely service delivery management information
  • Demonstrate efficiency improvement and report monthly on these to Manager
  • Maintaining training and continuing competency (T&C) for self and assist the manager in the review and sign-off for other applicable team members

 

People Management

  • To assign resources within the team work schedule in line with team competency matrices
  • To actively manage the team competency matrix ensuring individual team members are supported in obtaining core competency targets
  • To perform line management responsibilities for individual team members at administrator/fund accountant and senior administrator/senior fund accountant level
  • Support team recruitment, conduct interviews and lead on the onboarding process
  • Ensure sufficient people development and staff training is in place to maximise performance; this includes providing regular coaching and development
  • Ensure appropriate T&C oversight within your team
  • Adhere to HR policies and guidelines
