About IHC creation

As part of the Enhanced Prudential Standards (EPS), the Federal Reserve requires banking organizations to establish an Intermediate Holding Company (IHC), to regulate them similarly to comparably-sized domestic Bank Holding Company (BHC).

 

Consequently, BNP Paribas has to provide the necessary legal, management and regulatory reporting on a USGAAP basis for the Intermediate Holding Company (IHC).

 

Business Overview:

The IT Transversal Team is part of the Information Technology Group which works simultaneously on a wide range of projects arising from business, strategic initiatives, regulatory changes and reengineering of existing applications to improve functionality and efficiency. 

 

The Intermediate Holding Company (“IHC”) program structured at the U.S. level across poles of activities of BNP Paribas provides guidance, supports the analysis, impact assessment and drives adjustments of the U.S. platform’s operating model due to the drastic changes introduced by the Enhanced Prudential Standards (“EPS”) for Foreign Banking Organizations (“FBOs”) finalized by the Federal Reserve in February 2014, implementing Section 165 of U.S. Dodd-Frank Act.

 

Position Summary:

The IHC Application Production Support Specialist– FinReg will report into the IHC APS Manager. The Specialist will perform techno-functional analysis of issues, application production, application support activities onshore for Reporting Engine applications (Axiom, Hyperion and OBIEE), and coordinate with offshore counterparts for successful identification and resolution of Production issues. The Specialist will interact with work stream leads, infrastructure & business stakeholders for issue resolution. In addition, this person will also function as the team lead responsible to provide oversight to other Production Support Specialists.

 

Position Accountabilities:

  • Conduct deeper analysis of issues requiring techno-functional knowledge for FinReg applications (Hyperion, Axiom and OBIEE)

  • Perform issue investigation and resolution, planning, and release management for FinReg applications

  • Investigate application behavior with queries directly from the business

  • Provide primary functional issues resolution (requiring end user interaction) during regular US business hours

  • Perform emergency deployments or provide hands-on application specific technical support for issues that are escalated from ISPL

  • Liaise with IT work streams, Infrastructure and ISPL APS teams to resolve Production issues

  • Work with development teams and escalate technical issues requiring L3 support

  • Collate and prepare inputs for operational meetings related to Production for FinReg work stream (e.g. weekly/bi-weekly production update meetings, change control meetings, production KPI/ metrics)

  • Incident management – business and technology communication, coordination and resolution of incidents, from external issues such as exchange problems to internal application bugs impacting the production environment

  • Problem management – Post incident review ensuring that the issue has been permanently resolved and what value add items can be completed to ensure the issue does not reoccur

  • Release management – being the gatekeepers for the production environment, ensuring all change is understood and scheduled appropriately

  • Monitoring and continual service improvement of supported applications

  • Perform activities related to compliance/audit reporting

  • Manage a team of Production Support Specialists, lead and prioritize the team’s work load

Coach and develop team members

Required Experience:

  • 9-12 years’ experience in engineering, engineering support, or technical support environment

  • Prior customer-facing (internal or external) experience a must

  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills

  • Experience leading technical support teams

  • Windows and UNIX (and GUI) application support, use of Oracle SQL for data gathering and reporting

  • Experience of supporting Oracle based data management technologies

  • Experience and knowledge of ITSM processes, methodologies and tools

  • Good knowledge of data warehousing concepts and development methodologies

  • Possesses understanding in U.S. risk and regulatory requirements and financial reporting software

Administrative/Technical Skills:

  • Operating Systems: UNIX, Linux

  • Languages: Oracle SQL

  • Hands-on experience in Axiom / Hyperion (HFM and Planning) / OBIEE implementation including analysis, design, configuring, and testing a plus

  • Knowledge of data partitioning

  • Experience in Data warehousing projects would be preferable

  • Understanding of Object Oriented programming languages ( e.g. Python, C++, Objective-C, Smalltalk, Delphi, Java, Perl, Ruby and PHP)

  • Experience supporting large and complex production systems using complex SQL queries and reporting systems

  • Experience in Business Analytics

Required Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in a financial institution IT Environment and good knowledge of financial industry and related products are required. Understanding the recent financial regulatory initiatives such as Basel II, Basel III, Dodd-Frank Act and CCAR is a plus
