Business Overview:

Americas Compliance is an independent governance function headed up by the Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer for the Americas (Americas CCO) based in New York with responsibility for all Compliance activities in the United States (comprised of business lines rolling up to IFS and CIB) and CIB activities in Canada and Latin America.  Reporting directly into the Americas CCO is the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Americas Compliance.  The Americas Compliance COO has responsibility for among other functions: Reporting & Analytics


Intermediate Holding Company:

As part of the Enhanced Prudential Standards (EPS), the Federal Reserve requires banking organizations to establish an Intermediate Holding Company (IHC), in an attempt to regulate them in parity with comparably-sized domestic Bank Holding Companies (BHC). The BNP Paribas IHC Program is structured at the U.S. level and provides guidance and support to the analysis, impact assessment and enhancement of the U.S. platform’s operating model.

  • Contribute to the collection, compilation, consolidation and production of Compliance reporting, analysis and commentary, as required for CIB, internal committees, regulators, other third parties, the IHC Board or designated Committee(s) or Group where Compliance reporting is presented;
  • Work with stakeholders, including other team members, other operating entities (OEs), the IHC Reporting Coordinator, and Compliance domain specialists across CIB Americas(i.e., Financial Security, Protection of the Interests of Clients, Professional Ethics and Market Integrity) to report and analyze self-assessed (by Compliance) and externally identified (i.e., by internal audit, regulators)  matters through a variety of lenses, including but not limited to: risk-rating (H/M/L), remediation progress (green, yellow, red) and trending (positive, stable, negative);

Responsibilities Cont’d:

  • Contribute to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) Quarterly Reports to the IHC Board by working with other Compliance team members, whose responsibilities span a range of topics, including but not limited to: independent testing, risk assessments, surveillance, new business initiatives, regulatory change management, issue management and policies and training; 
  • Ensure accurate, timely and consistent collection of high-quality data, which is transposed into information from the OE and its source systems, including, but not limited to, metrics and key risk indicators covering a range of people, process and systems reference points; and
  • Comply with external regulatory requirements, internal control standards and policies and standards at the CIB, IHC and Group level with regard to Compliance reporting, analysis and commentary.
  • Identify quantitative anomalies, identify their source and proactively work with data owner to identify root cause for clarification purposes;
  • Act as back-up for US CIB Reporting Lead to build, consolidate, analyze and present weekly CIB Americas reports

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree; emphasis in Finance and/or Business is a plus
  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong communication skills - with peers, other OE Reporting leads and Senior Management
  • Flexibility and adaptability; ability to work prioritize concurrent demands from various stakeholders
  • Problem-solving and root cause identification skills
  • Aptitude for statistics, data collection, querying,  graphical reporting; familiarity with report production
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Team player and ability to work collaboratively across the Compliance function
  • Maintain balance of attention between both substance and form; displays ability to execute tactically
  • Excellent execution skills with the ability to work successfully under demanding deadlines
  • Ability to identify and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information as required
  • Displays professionalism in all situations; remains neutral and objective
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
  • Identify and take ownership of projects related to process improve
  • Eagerness to learn and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
  • General knowledge of Compliance and the financial industry are pluses
  • Knowledge of Tableau (or similar) software a plus
