Cardif Pinnacle in Borehamwood is recruiting for a full-time Actuarial Manager - Pricing to work within the busy Underwriting & Actuarial Department.

The company is focused upon the provision of creditor, pet and motor warranty insurance. The strategy of the business is to ensure that customers are well serviced whilst focusing on the operational capabilities and efficiency.


The purpose of this role is to contribute to the company development strategy, guarantee the quality of the Underwriting (pricing, profit & risk analysis) and contribute to the underwriting risk management system. The main focus is Pet insurance.

Key responsibilities:

·  Prepare accurate and comprehensive quotations, using both GLM and non-GLM techniques, for any new or existing products in line with the strategy, the profitability targets, the TCF and underwriting policies, and guarantee the update of the Technical basis used for the purpose of quotation. 

· Actively Support the development of an industrialised risk price and price optimisation process 

·  Actively Support the MI development for pricing and performance

management

 

·  Contribute effectively to the company strategy development on Pet 

proposition (direct sales, aggregator and through partnership) and support the

strategy owners notably for product design, distribution strategy through market

opportunity analysis and business plan preparation (profit & risk)


·  Actively Support the revenue owners on the delivery of budget, look for

opportunities to maximise NBI


·  Identify the key risks related to new quotations performed (and inform the person in charge of the reinsurance and UW risk management whenever necessary), support the UW Risk Monitoring Dashboard update and prepare recommendations and implement actions where needed  

 

· Support the review of contracts with intermediaries (Quotation, technical 

parameters & specific conditions related to risk or UW) to guarantee the 

alignment with quotation whenever necessary

 

· Responsible for the preparation of the exposed amount record sheet on the

 new quotation performed, the TAN and quotation archiving and the

 maintenance and the documentation of the tools used for quotation, business

 plan preparation

 

·  Support the Actuarial function on the assessment of the adequacy of the

underwriting policy

 

· Support the different project workstreams related to Pet system

implementations and rating engine design and testing

 

· Support the actuarial function holder on the data quality assessment

 

· Guarantee the day to day fluid interaction and collaboration with a) different

internal committees b) the Head Office Actuarial Affairs c) the UW Risk

Management department, d) Legal, Compliance and Risk department on pet

related topics

 

· Contribute, if required, to the support of other teams within the actuarial

department (pricing of other products, budget process, Solvency II, ORSA,

process automation, 4 eyes controls on variable commission assessment…) in

particular in automation and data related projects. 

Required Skills and Work Experience

Essential

  • At least 8 years’ experience in the general insurance sector
  • Analytical and statistical skills
  • Data manipulation skills and coding skills (SAS/R/Python)
  • GLM Modelling in Emblem experience
  • Ability to meet short and long-term deadlines and work well under pressure
  • The ability to work on own initiative, adapt to new situations, put forward new ideas and challenge the status quo
  • Proven interpersonal skills with ability to share knowledge and communicate both verbally and in writing at all levels
  • Results orientated – demonstrates commitment and drive to results
  • Top-class attention to detail, organisational and analytical skills

Required Qualifications

Essential

· Actuarial Science degree or equivalent knowledge or experience

·Qualified as an actuary
