Job Description Summary

Responsible for the development of high quality financial and business models. Additionally, the individual will be involved in the implementation of developed models and working with management to increase the speed at which the model based tools are adopted. Will also be responsible for thorough back testing and validation methodologies, the development of business requirements and producing supporting documentation.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain appropriate relationships with various stakeholders and business units to communicate developments regarding new models, processes and methodologies.
  • Responsible for the development of internal models and methodologies.
  • Will develop business requirements related to internal models and methodologies.
  • Responsible for developing model performance monitoring and validation techniques, including back testing.
  • Will support technology implementations of internal tools needed to implement developed models and methodologies.
  • Working with the Bank of the West's (The Bank) technology groups in determining the business requirements and specifications for the development of data structures for model validations and calibrations.
  • Coordinate the writing and maintenance of robust model and process documentation that satisfies the Bank’s internal model approval functions, audit requirements and the Bank’s regulators.
  • Requires the development of models as part of the ongoing development of risk based financial modeling tools for the Bank.

Required Experience
  • Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Typically viewed as a specialist within discipline.
  • May have broad knowledge of project management.
  • Requires 7 years minimum prior relevant experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree Quantitative Field

  • Field of Experience – Job-specific knowledge requirements.
  • Must have knowledge of modeling software and some programming capabilities, e.g. SAS, C++.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent report writing skill in creating business requirement proposals, client interaction and methodology documentation. Administrative/Technical Skills.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in risk measurement and management.
  • Must be able to handle complex projects in a multi-tasking environment and meet dead lines with quality results.
