The regulations implementing the S.A.F.E. Act statute require that individual mortgage loan originators be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.
Position Summary
Responsible for managing the day to day execution and coordination of the operational risk function within the Operational Risk program. Responsible for the part of the program which could include: reporting, testing, development of new tools and methodologies, program or project management, leading special projects, as well as program implementation as it applies to the business lines or the overall Bank.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Undertakes transversal & vertical assessments of exposures, identifying risks, evaluating their potential impact and reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of existing controls. For assigned Control Programs, such  as 3rd Party, Information Security, Business Continuity, Records, Fraud, etc. acts to maximize benefit of program components.
  2. Work with other risk functions to develop and implement controls that mitigate risks.
  3. Once the controls are in place, continues to monitor control compliance and the prevalent risk environment recommending incremental recommendations for improvement  to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels.
  4. Oversees the execution of the operational risk management standards and procedures; developing operational risk management analysis reports; developing approval procedures and guidelines on operational risk limits by type of product and/or transaction (where appropriate); and in establishing management and administrative procedures to ensure adherence to policies.
  5. Counsels business unit managers on operational risk management issues.
  6. Based on assigned role, prioritizes Operational Risk activities to reduce income volatility for the bank and increase risk transparency while being attentive to increasing the level of customer service and satisfaction.
  7. May participate in evaluating new products, changes to the channels through which products are offered, and technology impact assessments for their impacts on the bank's or LOB’s operational risk profile.
  8. Assigned responsibility for specific areas of the Bank's Corporate Operational Risk Management function. Under a senior leader, role may include design of standardized risk taxonomy, risk management processes, and/or templates used across the company (Operational Risk Department).
  9. Directly responsible for a key segment of LOB/support function OR activities in accordance with the Bank's operational risk management policies. Under a senior leader, role may include design of standardized risk taxonomy, risk management processes, and/or templates used across the company (Business Group Operational Risk Support).
  10. Under LOB/support function ORM may oversee and participate in First Line Control credible challenge to determine if controls are in place and working as intended (Business Group Operational Risk Support).
  11. Within assignment has a broad range of independence ensures the Operational Risk Program is working effectively to report on the LOB/support function's risk posture and rein in excessive risks/risky activities.


Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree- IT, Security, Risk Management or related field (Required).
  • Master’s/ Advanced Degree- Risk Management or IT (Preferred).

Required Experience

  • Requires mastery level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have deep knowledge of project management.
  • Requires 10 years minimum prior relevant experience.
