VP- FIC Insurance Banker

Business Overview:
Corporate and Institutional Coverage are critical to CIB in developing and managing long-term relationships and driving the global strategy in service to our clients. The Financial Institutions Coverage (FIC) Americas team includes nearly 40 bankers located in New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal, Mexico City, Bogota, and São Paulo. Globally, FIC is organized in three regional hubs with over 240 professionals focusing on five client groups: Insurance, Bank & Financial Intermediaries, Investors (traditional and alternative asset management firms), Official Institutions and Financial Sponsors.

Financial Institutions Coverage seeks to enable by helping BNP Paribas Group to:
• Protect and build the Group’s market share and margin among strategic clients of the CIB
• Originate new business opportunities across the BNPP global platform
• Manage relationships with our clients’ C-Suite and, other decision makers and influencers
• Set shared revenue targets across CIB business lines
• Represent the brand as an ambassador, while upholding the firm’s code of conduct


Responsibilities:

The role will report to the Head of Coverage for Insurance in the US market, and will provide support to Senior Bankers in the sector.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Strategic presentations and projects
• Having a strong understanding of the US Insurance sector including regulation, accounting and the key drivers of ratings and valuation
• Provide input to the Insurance sector vertical on industry themes across accounting, regulation, rating agency changes that impact clients’ strategies and generate opportunities for BNPP to monetize across the platform
• Understanding of asset side solutions-based opportunities for the sector, including SVO valuation parameters and investment RBC charges
• Exhibiting a developing profile within the industry as a sector specialist
• Development of strategic content to create meaningful dialogue and thereby drive revenue across the BNPP platform (Global Markets product areas, Corporate Banking including advisory and financing)

Senior Banker support
• Assist in the direct communication of topical market developments with clients on a high frequency basis by analyzing market trends and industry developments
• Prepare marketing materials/presentations and market updates with relevant and timely content for client meetings
• Assist bankers in developing and managing C-Suite relationships on behalf of the Group, including production of executive briefings, competitor/revenue analysis
• Implement best practice client reviews, call report completion, action tracking
• Actively participate in client marketing initiatives and engage with client peers to broaden connectivity
• Lead execution of mandates with substantial internal coordination and selected external engagement with clients
• Mentor, manage and develop analyst and associate team members


Cross-metier functionality
• Co-ordinate activities across Business Lines to ensure best practice, global consistency
• Liaise with relevant internal functions to run deals independently: Risk, legal, compliance, KYC
• Build relationships/partnerships with other teams and support functions, such as Client Integration, Due Diligence, Operations Client Relationship Management, Client Development, Account Management, Business Management


Minimum required Qualifications:
• 6+ years of active involvement in the coverage of insurance sector clients
• Work experience at a large global bank with a leading investment banking arm

Preferred qualifications:
• 6+ years of relevant work experience
• Knowledge of the Insurance companies within the target market
• Exhibit strong network peer relationships with US insurance clients and with broader Insurance industry eco-system
• Knowledge of insurance business models, capital structures and regulatory and accounting regimes (GAAP and Statutory accounting)
• Familiarity with the range of Global Markets products utilized by US Insurance companies, including DCM, Rates, Equity Derivatives, Credit
• Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques including discounted cash flow and dividend discount models, regression analysis, comparable company and transaction analysis, etc
• Understanding of debt capacity analysis specific to the Insurance sector to help support our Corporate Finance initiatives
• Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills
• Technical proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Strong work ethic
• Collegial and able to build strong relationships, both internal and external
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment, and consistently meet or beat deadlines
• Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative
• Undergraduate degree in, or relevant course work in, Economics, Finance or Accounting
• High quality standards, integrity and respect for social responsibility values
• Conduct and risk awareness – understands the impact of conduct in the industry, the firm and acts accordingly


FINRA Registrations Required:
• Series 7, 63 and 79 will need to be obtained within a reasonable amount of time
