VIE CIB Operational Risk and Permanent Control Officer – Oslo, M/F

Your daily routine ?

As a VIE, you will be expected to contribute when necessary to any of the activities under the Operational Risk and Permanent Control (OPC) Team scope, in order to sustain and improve the quality of the OPC framework in the Nordic region and to implement the necessary OPC projects.

Incidents :

You will record operational incidents following rules defined by the Group. You will analyze the incidents, define and follow up the corrective actions with the relevant stakeholders.

Procedures :

You will follow up the updates and implementation rate of the Nordic procedures, participate to the cascading of CIB and Group procedures to the Nordic staff, and act as the point of contact for Procedures Correspondents to ensure that the Nordic framework is compliant with the Group requirements.

Controls :

You will perform OPC controls according to the Nordic Control Plan, ensure that control results are reviewed and analyzed by the management, input the controls results in the Group tool, implement and follow up action plans when necessary. You will support OPC team members in analyzing local control plans to constantly ensure that the major risks are properly and that controls are aligned with Group requirements.

Governance, reporting :

You will assist OPC team members in creating reports / presentations on all OPC-related topics.

BNP Paribas Norway is part of a growing region within BNP Paribas CIB EMEA. The Nordic region is a dynamic region. BNP Paribas CIB Norway has 70 employees and shares its premises with other BNP Paribas entities.

The OPC Department acts as the main contact and organizer of the Operational risk (OR) and Permanent Control (PC) activities in the Nordic region. It consists in a team of 5 people, including 1 VIE, that covers 4 countries in total (Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden).

The Nordic OPC Team is responsible for the management of Operational Risks through a robust control framework, which allows an effective monitoring, reporting and management of risks in the Nordics. Our main activates include the following tasks :

  • Identify, Communicate and ensure the proper implementation of Group procedures ;
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment ;
  • Record and report incidents ;
  • Coordinate and execute controls ;
  • Monitor the Third Party Risk Management process across the Region ;
  • Contribute to increasing awareness on the Operational Risk topics in the region (Fraud, incidents...).

The job is based in Oslo and the office located in the city center. The public transportation network guarantees easy access to the premises of BNP Paribas by metro, tram or train.

This position will allow the candidate to get an overview of operational risk and management topics as well as a cross-structural view of the Nordic business lines and functions. The relatively small size of our branch will offer the candidate exposure to senior interlocutors within Global Banking, ALM Treasury, IT, Finance etc...

You have a master degree majoring in banking, finance and/or law.

You have gained first experience (internships and work-study program included) in risk management and/or audit.

You have a solid risk and internal audit knowledge.

You speak English and you have a very good command of MS Office.

This position requires good communication and strong organizational skills. You demonstrate rigor and effective team work skills. Also, your adaptability will be an asset to progress on this mission.
