What You'll Do

  • You will lead a cross-functional technology team responsible for the end-to-end development, implementation, support, and enhancement of the application portfolio for a functional line of business. You will partner with multiple members of the larger IT team and leaders across the organization to help position the division for success.
  •  Working closely with the business product owner(s) you will help define roadmaps for both in house and vendor solutions. You will provide leadership, guidance, and development across the team to support a culture of service, ownership, and accountability.
  • You will be juggling multiple projects at once, operating strategically and very tactically, and will be communicating at various levels: from being hands-on, willing and able to do the work as well as oversee it via code reviews, mentoring, and coaching junior team members, to planning and coordinating of strategies and activities related with senior leaders.


  • Manage, coach, and develop a cross-functional, cross-platform organization to drive employee engagement, high levels of communication and collaboration, and a service-oriented culture of ownership and accountability
  • Consult for platform, systems / solution integration architecture, evaluation, and recommendation
  • Collaborate with the technology planning, and business stakeholder teams to provide technical / automated solutions to satisfy business functional requirements
  • Ensure recommended solutions (a mix of vendor and custom) support the IT Strategy and align to key business drivers including determining highest business value with the lowest total cost of ownership
  • Application development using current lifecycle and DevOps processes and methods.
  • Collaborate with the technology planning and business stakeholder teams to effectively translate functional requirements into technical specifications that can be quickly and accurately developed, leveraging an iterative model, to ensure the best possible time to solution
  • Ensure the application development team(s) comply with development, testing and defect management processes to ensure a highly predictable, high quality deliverable to maximize value and minimize disruption
  • Effectively manage the application development team(s) to meet expectations for budget and performance management
  • Participate in the architecture review and governance processes
  • Execute on the technology roadmap for the future state application portfolio
  • Plan and manage deployment of in-house solutions as well as the transition and integration of cloud and / or hybrid solutions as part of the Application Strategy / Portfolio
  • Provide design leadership for systems configuration and deployment strategies
  • Ensure compliance with quality and change management processes



  • 10 + years progressive Information Technology experience that includes engineering solutions using programming languages: Java, JavaScript, and respective frameworks.
  • 5+ years of application development team management experience with demonstrated ability to manage matrixed and cross-organizational teams
  • 3+ years of experience planning and deploying business or IT initiatives, including extensive experience of building customer facing solutions
  • Extensive experience building web-based, customer facing, transactional systems.
  • Deep knowledge of modern application development processes including Agile (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of solution delivery life cycles and development processes
  • Proven technical aptitude in one or more application programming domains
  • Ability to use configuration management tools, design tools, debugging tools, and any other environment-specific tools necessary to create, test, and implement an application
  • Exceptional communication skills to communicate at all levels of the organization (this includes written, verbal, and visual communications)
  • Leadership qualities, including ability to facilitate technical discussions with diverse and cross-functional groups, and good negotiation skills including the ability to influence others with ideas and proposed architecture options
  • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills, with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to collaborate without guidance
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt and change priorities as the business needs change
  • Modern CI/CD and DevOps environments and tools: Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Database environment: Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of latest trends and technologies including on premise, hybrid, cloud, and mobile applications
  • Understanding and hands on abilities in common development frameworks and languages, including Java/Spring/Hibernate/Jhipster, React,  Angular, SQL/No SQL databases
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns and Principles and Demonstrated ability to apply architectural principles, methods, and tools to business challenges
  • Understanding of common application platforms, including Apache/Tomcat,
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes, container stacks (Docker, IBPM ICP / OpenShift)
